XLRI Bids Tearful Goodbye to Fr E Abraham, S
14th July 2021: Fr. E. Abraham S.J. Former Director, XLRI- Xavier School of Management, Jamshedpur passed aw ay today morning due to a cardiac arrest at XIM Bhubaneswar. He was 70 years old and an alumnus of XLRI (PGD PMIR- 1978). Fr. E. Abraham was the longest-serving Director of XLRI. His total tenure as Director spanned over 16 years across two terms, from 1989 to 1994 and from 2008 to 2019.
All India Management Association (AIMA) conferred on Fr. E. Abraham the “AIMA -“ Kewal Nohria Award for Ac ademic Leadership in Management Education” -2019.
Fr. Abraham was also conferred the ‘AIM – ASMA Lifetime Achievement Award’ at the 3rd ASMA Annual Conv ention & Awards -2019.
Fr. Abraham was highly regarded as a champion of India’s manage ment academia and an eminent thought leader in academic govern ance who has immensely contributed to management education in India. He was the Founde r-Secretary of the National HRD Netw ork and the Founder-President of the Indian Association of Auto nom o us Business Schools. He was also on the International Ass ociation of Jesuit Business Schools and Association of Asi a Pacific Business Schools boards. He has been the President of the Assoc iation of Indian Management Schools and was a board member at IRMA. He has also been a member of the National Board of Accredi tation(NBA) and member of the All India Board of Management Stu dies. Fr. Abraham served as a member of the Board of Governors at many Indian and foreign business schools, like XLRI Jamshedpur, St Xavier University Kolkata, St Xavier Unive rsity Bhubaneswar, and Asian Institute of Management, Manila. He has received numerous accolades for his co ntribution to management education.

Friday 16 July 2021 at Jamshedpur.
- 10.30 am – 12.00 noon: Homage to Fr Abraham by XLRI faculty, staff, alumni, and close friends at Prabhu Hall (XLRI Campus). The XLRI family will arrange a memorial prayer service.
- 12.30 pm – 02.00 pm: Homage to Fr Abraham by Religious clergy and faithful at Loyola School Chapel.
- 02.00 pm – 03.30 pm: Requiem mass at Loyola Chapel with select members only
- 03.30 pm – 4.30 pm: Burial at Jesu Bhavan Jesuit Cemetery
