Chennai : Vinayaka Missions Chennai Campus hosted an inspiring Women’s Day celebration on March 5, 2025,
Organized by the Women Empowermen ent Cell (WEC)to honor and acknowledg e the achievements of women in various fields. The event commenced with a soul l-stirring prayer song, followed by the ce remonial lighting of the lamp, accompan ied by music, setting a vibrant tone for t he celebration.Dr. Giri Rengasamy, Dean of CSR, VMRF, delivered the welcome a ddress and warmly greeted esteemed g uests and participants. Distinguished di gnitaries, including Thiru S. Arunraj, I.A. S., District Collector of Chengalpattu, an d Ms. Neera Misra, Founder of the Drou padi Dream Trust, were honored with b ouquets and mementos in recognition of their invaluable contributions to society Further, Dr. K. R. Maalathi, CEO of Auur o Educational Services, Chennai, and Mr s. R. Seethadevi, Founder of Street Visio n Social & Charitable Trust, were honou red for their outstanding contribution t o education and community service.
The program initiated with the wishes fr om Dr. A S Ganesan, the honourable Cha ncellor of VMRF to all the women, espec ially the women of VMRF family on the s pecial occasion as we celebrate 25 years of VMRF. The Presidential Address was delivered by the Honourable Madam Ch ancellor of VMRF, Dr. Anuradha Ganesa an, who emphasized the crucial role wo men play in shaping society. She urged t he audience to foster an inclusive enviro nment where women’s voices are heard and celebrated daily, not just on Womes n’s Day. Her speech was a beacon of insp iration, encouraging attendees to break barriers and lead with strength and con viction. Dr. Christianna Singh, Director, School of Arts and Science, delivered a s peech on Women’s Day, the importance  it holds in history and its impact on the wellbeing of women. The special Guest, Swami Srihari prasad delivered a addres ss on community development and the v ital role of women in societal progress.H e acknowledged Vinayaka Missions’ eff orts in promoting gender equality and e mpowerment. The Guest of Honour, Ms. Neera Misra, Founder and Chairperson of the Droupadi Dream Trust, delivered an insightful speech on the resilience of Indian women throughout history. She h ighlighted the significance of grassroots initiatives in uplifting marginalized wom en, leaving a lasting impact on the audie nce.
The VMRF Women of Excellence Award 2025 were presented to Dr. K. R. Maalat hi, CEO of Auuro Educational Services, f or her contributions to education, and Mrs. R. Seetha Devi, Founder of Street Vision Social & Charitable Trust, for her community service.
The VMRF Women Leadership Awards 2025 were presented to Dr. Deepti Shas tri, Deputy Dean, Vinayaka Mission’s Kir upananda Variyar Medical College & Ho spitals, Salem, for her leadership in medi cal education, and Dr. S. Deepa, Profess or & HOD, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, A arupadai Veedu Medical College & Hosp ital, Pondicherry, for her contributions t o women’s healthcare. This special day a lso sees the recognition of Single mothe ers of students who work hard to educa ate their children being awarded with e xceptional mother cash award.
The VMRF Women Achiever Awards 2 025 recognized Dr. R. Shenbagavalli, As sociate Dean, Student Affairs, VMLS, V MCC, for her role in student developme ment, and Mrs. S. Subhashini, Senior Ma nager – HR (Corporate), for excellence i n corporate leadership.
The Outstanding Girl Student Awards 2 025 celebrated students for their acade mic excellence and extracurricular achie vements, inspiring them to pursue great ter success.
Closing Remarks
Dr. S.P. Sangeetha, Vice Principal (Acade mics), AVIT, and Convenor of the Wome en’s Day Celebration, delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all dig gnitaries, organizers, and attendees for making the event a grand success.
