VAZHAI TAMIL MOVIE REVIEW
Ponvel, a boy who lost his father at an early age, grows up in the embrace of his mother and elder sister. Mother and sister are working in the nearby villages cutting bananas and loading them into trucks. Even though Ponvel also goes to this work during school holidays, he longs to be freed from it. At this time, ponvel, a boy who is traveling in a lorry with his sister and villagers to cut bananas, gets off the lorry in the middle of the fire. A lorry that keeps moving puts the occupants in great distress. ‘Banana’ is director Mari Selvaraj’s attempt to convey the pain experienced by the boy Ponvel to the people.
Mari Selvaraj, who has dealt with caste politics in his previous films, has scripted the film based on a tragic incident in his life, so there is a huge expectation on the film. But, in fact, Mari Selvaraj has not talked about any kind of politics in this film, but based on a tragic incident that happened in his life, he has talked superficially about the capitalism that treats the workers with indifference in our society.
The boy Ponvel, who plays the hero of the story, Shivanaithan, has played his role with understanding. He has done justice to the character by acting realistically in all places like Poongodi saying that he is his favorite teacher, traveling, pretending to be afraid to go to work cutting bananas, and hating Kamal.
Rahul, who is playing the role of Shivnaithan’s friend Shekhar, is attracting attention as Manna’s brother-in-law. Janaki who plays the role of Shivanaithan’s mother, Divya Duraisamy who plays the sister, Kalaiyarasan and Nikila Vimal who plays the role of a teacher, all the actors in the film have acted in Tirunelveli regional Tamil speaking and acting realistically.
Santhosh Narayan’s music has all the songs traveling depending on the storyline. Oppari song in particular makes the heart heavy.
Director Mari Selvaraj has conveyed to us the painful incident that happened to the agricultural laborers without emphasizing it, even though communism has been talked about in this film, away from the politics that has been talked about in his films.
Director Mari Selvaraj, who has given realistic cinema for all parties to enjoy by keeping the bitter incident of a lorry journey in his painful life journey, even though he openly expresses his anger towards actor Kamal, all those scenes make the audience laugh so that the theater shakes, it is a plus for the film.
The film, which deals with the painful life of the common people, the indifference of people in overpopulated countries like India, and the capitalism that exploits the labor of the working people, will satisfy the populist fans and the fans who like realistic works. At the same time, it can’t be denied that it gets boring in places without doing it perfectly.
However, the way the characters are designed, the casting, the plot and the pain of the final scene make you forget the flaws and celebrate another face of director Mari Selvaraj.
All in all, a ‘banana’ pain.
