Story :

Although there have been many films a bout sexual abuse of girls, last year’s fi lm Maharaja raised the eyebrows of the fans. It seems that director Karuppaiah Murugan has directed this film titled Val lamai based on the theme of that film. However, due to the lack of interest in t he screenplay and the repetitive scenes, the film could not be enjoyed. The direct or has moved the story along with the fa ther-daughter love struggle.

Premji, who has been acting in comedy c haracters, has made his mark as a hero b y playing the lead role in this film. Accor ding to the story, he has given an emotio nal performance as a father to a 12-year -old daughter. However, even after watc hing him in comedy, we could not enjoy him even though he speaks serious dialo gues.

Divyadarshini, who plays Premji’s daugh ter, has given a beautiful performance. S he is cute in the Bharatanatyam scenes. The dialogues spoken by Deepa Shankar , who plays the doctor, are memorable. I nspector Muthuraman and Super Good Subramani, who play the role of Inspect or, have given excellent performances. A long with them, C.R. Ranjith plays the ro le of a businessman mixed with villainy. Chennai looks beautiful in Suraj Nallus amy’s cinematography. GKV’s backgrou nd music is okay.

It is special that the visuals show that se xual harassment against girls continues everywhere, from the house where they live to the school where they study to th e police station that provides protection n. However, the scenes are set up in a ch ildish way in many places and the film m oves without any interest in the screenp lay, which is a bit weak. Although Karu is a line, it is the talent of a good director t o create a screenplay that is enjoyable a nd makes the audience surprised. Let’s h ope that director Karuppiah Murugan w ill prove it in the next film. Strength – Fa ns need mental strength

Movie Review :

Before going into the question of wheth er Premji has acted well or not, I should commend him for choosing such a story. He has brought the character of Saravan an, the father of a 12-year-old girl, befor e our eyes. Premji has shown through m y performance what an ordinary person without money or power would do in su ch a situation. Through this, he has prov en to the Tamil cinema fans that he can a ct well. Divyadarshini, who plays his dau ghter, has also delivered a good perform ance. Her realistic face adds extra stren gth to this story. Those who appear in s mall roles in the film have also done exa ctly what the director told them.

The music and cinematography seem to suit the story. Even though the film runs for two hours, the editor could have cut a few more scenes. The length of the sce nes makes it boring at some places. Simil arly, there are a few places where one sc ene seems to have no connection with t he other. It creates a kind of confusion f or us while watching the film. We do not know whether the consecutive scenes w ere not shot or whether they were cut b ecause they were not needed.

Although director Karuppaiya Murugan should be commended for his intention t o tell the society about the injustice don e to girls, he did not convey it properly a s a film. Although it is good to listen to a s a story, more good scenes could have b een added to the screenplay. If Vallam ai had been given a little more strength in t he screenplay, it would have been a grea t film. Vallamai is definitely a film that ca n be watched with the family.
