Valimai 11s team emerge victorious in the Dubbing Artistes Premier League Cricket Tournament
Dubbing Artistes Premier League (DPL) cricket tournament organised by The South Indian Cine, Television Art istes and Dubbing Artistes Union was held on 30th and 31st of July.
Four teams- Avengers, Dubbing Super Kings, Tollywood Tigers, and Valimai 11s- competed in the tournament. Valimai 11s emerged victorious at the end of a thrilling two-day tournament and won SICTADAU Trophy. Tolly wood Tigers came second followed by Dubbing Super Kings and Avengers in third and fourth positions, res pectively.
The cricket tournament was organised by the South Indian Cine, Television Artistes and Dubbing Artistes Union for its members. Since 2018, Dubbing Union President Dato Radharavi has been conducting various programs f or members of the union. This includes medical camps, yoga classes and English training. Following this trend, t he SICTADAU cricket tournament was conducted based on the requests made by the mem bers. Organised at th e Ten Sportz Village in Kovur, the matches were held at par with international matches with umpires and com mentators.
Aravind Akash and Bossky inaugurated the first match. Radharavi opened the first match between the Dubbing Super Kings and the Valimai 11s with the toss. This game was won by the Valimai 11s. Bossky encouraged the pl ayers by saying that they will have to give their best as many people will be watching the game. He added that so meone might get picked to play for the National team, as anything might happen. In the next match Tollywood Ti gers and Avengers competed against each other in which Tollywood Tigers emerged victorious.
Later, in a match between the Dubbing Super Kings and the Avengers, the Dubbing Super Kings won. In the final between Tollywood Tigers and Valimai 11s, Valimai 11s won and lifted the trophy. Awards and prizes were given to all the players. Director R K Selvamani, producer K Rajan, actor Prashanth, President of Music Directors As sociation Dhina, Secretary of Managers Association and Treasurer of FEFSI Swaminathan, Sridhar from the Te chnicians Union and Thavasi from the Stunt Union were the chief guests of the event.
Selvamani praised the dubbing union for hosting the first of its kind competition. Actor Prashanth questioned t he organisers in a lighter vein for not inviting him to play in the tournament, despite him being a member of the dubbing union. He also expressed his happiness by saying that this tournament is a historic start and also con gr ulated the organisers and participants. Producer K Rajan recollected memories of his friendship with Radharavi and his first cricketing experience. He also expressed his willingness to sponsor the next tournament. Radharavi said that this tournament is just the be ginning and similar competitions will be held at national level soon.
