USHA supports Adimurai and Silambam Competition 2024

In Nagercoil Over 3000 participants par ticipated showcasing Tamil Nadu’s ancie nt martial arts traditions

Kanyakumari, December 2, 2024: USHA International, a leading consumer durab bles company in India, joined hands with the Lemuria Varma Kalari Adimurai Wo rld Organization to host the State Level Adimurai and Silambam Competition 20 24 in Nagercoil, Kanyakumari. Bringing together over 3,000 martial artists acro ss diverse categories, the event show ca sed and celebrated the rich heritage of T Tamil Nadu’s ancient martial art Adi mur ai, alongside Silambam – the art of comb bat, highlighting the deep connection  to the state’s cultural legacy.

The competition featured a range of indi vidual, group, and pair events, where pa rticipants displayed their prowess in Adi murai, Silambam, and Kalari. Highlightin g both armed and unarmed combat tech niques, the competition showcased Adi murai’s distinctive blend of self-defence and vital point strikes (Varma Adi), ancie nt art form with a legacy spanning over 2,000 years. The Chief Guests, Adv. P.Iss ac Samraj, Chairman, Kanyakumari Dist rict Boxing Club and Mrs. K. Ani Dynes, Head of Valarum Makkal Iyakkam, hono ured the winners by presenting trophies and certificates, lauding the athletes for their exceptional dedication, remarkabl e performances, and the spirited display of traditional martial arts.

Adimurai, a martial art with its origins in the Kanyakumari district of Tamil Nadu, is celebrated as one of the oldest martia l systems in the world. While traditional ly valued for its combat effectiveness, Adimurai is also revered today for its ho listic benefits, promoting physical fitnes s, mental focus, and overall well-being.
