Thiruchitrambalam Bags Dual National Awards
The critically acclaimed film, Thiruchitrambalam, has brought further laurels to the Tamil film industry by securing two prestigious National Film Awards. Announced today in Delhi, the 70th National Film Awards recognized the film’s exceptional merit in the Best Actress and Best Choreography categories.
Nithya Menen, the leading lady of the film, has been bestowed the coveted Best Actress award for her compelling portrayal of Shobana, a character that resonated deeply with audiences. Known for her versatility, her performance in Thiruchitrambalam marks another significant milestone in her illustrious career.
The film’s choreography, a collaborative effort by Jani and Sathish, has been unanimously acclaimed by critics and audiences alike. Their innovative dance sequences, infused with traditional and contemporary elements, elevated the film’s musical numbers to a new level, deserving the recognition of a National Award.
Thiruchitrambalam emerged as a blockbuster upon its release in August 2022. The film was produced by Sun Pictures, the biggest and leading production houses in Tamil cinema known for producing critically and commercially successful films like ‘Enthiran’, ‘Sarkar’, ‘Petta’, ‘Namma Veetu Pillai’ and ‘Beast’. After its recent success with the Dhanush starrer ‘Raayan’, the production house also has another biggie ‘Coolie’ in the pipeline.
The film, directed by Mithran R Jawahar, starred Dhanush in the lead and Bharathiraja, Prakash Raj, and Raashi Khanna in pivotal roles.
