Movie Review-;

Satya MBBS (Ram Pothineni) moves to Kurnool with his mother (Nadhiya) for his house surgeon where he meets RJ Whistle Mahalakshmi (Krithi Shetty). But honest doctor Satya is disturbed by the challenges from local rowd y Guru (Aadhi Pinisetty). He returns to Kurnool as Satya IPS and how he hunts down Guru forms the crux of the story.Telugu actor Ram Pothineni started his career with Tamil cinema but made his name in Tollywood. Howeve r, it is only now with Tamil director Lingusamy’s The Warrior, he makes his debut in Tamil cinema. This film is set in Kurnool and Ram Pothineni plays Dr Satya who has come to work in that city as a doctor. Cut to Guru (Aadhi Pinisetty), who is the local rowdy and a businessman of sorts, whose company has manufactured a deadly saline that ends up killing three children. Everyone in Kurnool is scared of Guru and his men so no one, including the co ps, take any action against him for all the atrocities he commits. When Dr Satya raises a complaint with the poli ce about the pharma mafia, he is beaten to a pulp in the centre of the city at Konda Reddy Fort by Guru.

Satya’s dean Robert saves him telling him never to return to the city and sends him on his way. But like any hero would, he doesn’t listen to his dean and Satya returns to Kurnool – as a cop! Does DSP Satya now take down Gu ru and his men? Is he able to ‘save’ the people of Kurnool from this goonda raj?Satya (Ram Pothineni), a young do ctor enters Tamilnadu with his mother (Nadhiya). He stays opposite to the house of RJ Whistle Mahalakshmi (Kri thi Shetty). He falls in love with her slowly. On the other hand, Satya treats a patient and Guru (Aadhi Pinisetty) h enchmen kill him post opertation. Unable to take this, he reacts. Guru’s henchmen force him to withdraw the cas e. Later, he again takes on Guru’s men when due to their improportionate medicines kill children. Dean (Jayapra kash) advises him to stop putting himself in trouble but Satya doesn’t care. Guru hits to the pulp and hangs him o n the road in front of Kondareddi Buruju. Dean saves him and with his family sends him away. After 2 years, Sat ya returns to Kurnool as DSP Satya with top ranks in IPS. What happens next?

  A hero unable to stop hi mself from going after a local don and due to some issue, he has to leave the town. Wh en he comes back, he tak es on the villain with full force. Major elements are taken from this plot and hence, mo vie feels like we are watc hing an extended cut of the old film rather than watching a new one from Ram and Aa dhi. With two powerhouse performers, Lingusamy kind of a director in his prime, would have delievered at least Vettai/Thadhaka kind of fil m which is similar to many commercial films yet fresh and slightly different. Here, Li ngusamy just depends on cli ches to the core.To the extent that even young kids can predict what happens next. In such films, novelty and fast pacing, fights add to the magic. Ala Vaikuntapurramuloo, Aravindha Sametha, Pu shpa The Rise, KGF Chapter 1, 2 and even RRR have plots that have been used before laced with commercial elements. But they engage you with fresh scenes and strong performances. Few scenes in those films work just because of the vision of the directors and convincing performances.

But N. Lingusamy writes scenes that are highly cliched. At the outset. Director Lingusamy has been going throu gh a low phase and has been looking out for a strong comeback on screen. However, ‘The Warrior’, which he has written and directed, is definitely not that film. This movie seems to be a potpourri of some of his earlier films wh ere the hero plays a cop who is out to get the bad man and remove evil from society. The story is highly predicta ble with cliched dialogues and poorly written. The novelty that he has tried to add by making a doctor become a policeman just doesn’t sit right and one wonders how this botched up character Satya was envisioned by someo ne who has written far superior stories. Ram is at ease as doctor Satya since he is seen as a soft, handsome and charming guy. When he transforms into DSP Satya he is not in full form. Krithi Shetty is okay as Whistle Mahalak shmi. She is good at songs and romance. Whereas her role is not ended properly and she goes missing in the con flict between the protagonist and the antagonist.

Aadhi Pinisetty shines in the powerful role of Guru. He dominates with his performance. Nadhiya is alright as a determined and confident mother. But she is typecast for the role. Brahmaji’s plays dishonest police SI Devaraj which is also regular. When it comes to performances Ram has performed what is required of him as both doctor and cop but it is Aadhi Pinisetty who shines in the flick as the villain with his excellent performance. Actress Krit hi Shetty, who plays RJ Whistling Mahalakshmi, is the arm candy factor for the songs and the romance angle. The only highlight of the film is the ‘Bullet Song’ that a lot of youngsters have been humming and listening to now. De vi Sri Prasad, who usually does a great BGM and songs, has done an average job as far as this film is concerned. ‘T he Warrior’ loses the battle even before setting foot on the battleground. Ajay’s character as villain’s side-kick is just filler and adds no value to the story. None of the other characters get noticed. Aadhi Pinisetty’s villain tra ck starts off with Master Bhavani kind of flashback and then enters into the zone of Nothingness.

He is a bad guy for the sake of being bad person. Such generic villains started getting boring on screen. Ram Pot hineni needs to understand that commercial scripts might all sound alike but the directors who handle them wi th fresh vision can only make them work. Going with an old, once proven now struggling director, he needs a new subject like Ismart Shankar. Aadhi Pinisetty kind of actor is wasted but he performed well throughout. All others leave no impact. Devi Sri Prasad needs to take some break from composing to refresh himself. He is getting too generic and repetitive. This is a forgettable routine commercial flick. Lingusamy picked up a story that is half-ba ked and fully predictable. While the characterisations of the lead were etched well, the director is clueless over weaving such a powerful story around them. He totally lost his grip on the film after revealing the crucial twist during the film’s interval. Devi Sri Prasad delivered good songs but he failed in giving thumping background mu sic. But the songs placements do spoil the feel. Visuals are appealing, thanks to neat cinematography. The film’s pace struggles.
