The Madras Regiment is the oldest Infantry Regiment of the Indian Army

ATTESTATION PARADE : MADRAS REGIMENTAL CENTRE  

            The Madras Regiment is the oldest Infantry Regiment of the Indian Army with its Regimental Centre at Wellington. On 05 September 2020, 134 recruits were attested at the historic drill ground of Shrinagesh Barracks, after successful completion of a yearlong Basic and Advanced Military Training.

            The Attestation Parade was reviewed byBrigadier Rajeshwar Singh,  Shaurya Chakra, Sena Medal, Comm andant, The Madras Regimental Centre, Wellington. The attestation Parade was carried out with appropriate social distancing in consonances  with heighest traditions of the Indian Army. While addressing the parade, Re viewing Officer congratulated meritorious recruits and appreciated the instructors and staff for achieving a very high standards of training and lauded the effort of Madras Regiment Centre to train a smart and effective soldi ers for Indian Army.

The reviewing officer emphasized the fact that the recruits were being attested on 05 September 2020, which is ‘Teachers Day’ and they must cherish the values imbibed in them by their instructors. Brigadier Rajeshwar Singh, Shaurya Chakra, Sena Medal, has also awarded the medals to Recruits for overall Best in Training and Best in Physicals. The Reviewing Officer made a special mention of the efforts to train the soldiers under the prevailing pandemic situation and commended all stakeholders for their hardwork in this situation.  He also congratulated the parents of the young soldiers in this moment of pride and glory, who could not witness the parade due to restrictions imposed by COVID-19.
