Plot

The protagonist Thangalan (Vikram) lives with his wife, children and people. The Mirzas, under the rule of the whites, treat all the people of Tangalan as slaves.

Vikram thinks that he should change this situation and take his people to the next level. At this time, they are given the job of prospecting for gold by Clement, a white man.

Vikram takes his people to the gold mine, thinking that by doing so they will get more salary and thereby buy back their lands from Miraz.

What happened after this? What challenges they faced there is the rest of the story of the film.

Director Pa. Ranjith has made a world class film Thangalan. The film talks about the politics of land. There is no doubt that it will be relevant politics in all eras.

But, the screenplay is a bit confusing. It may be stated clearly. That has become the biggest minus point of the film. Similarly, the dialogues spoken by actors and actresses are not understood at many places. Not emotionally connected.

Vikram, Parvati, Pashupati, Malavika. Everyone like Daniel Caltagirone gave hundred percent performance. There is no shortage of this. Their performance is the biggest strength of the film. Surely many awards are waiting for them. It must be said that Vikram’s performance is even less if he is given an Asagar award. He has given life to that measure and acted in the film. The action sequences are insane.

Apart from the protagonist Vikram Thandi, another hero of the film is music composer G.V. It’s Prakash.

Both costume design and art direction take us to the world of Tangalan. Cinematography is the most important reason for this. The editing is good but not legible.

Thangalan confuses us with its unclear screenplay…

All in all Tangalan just shines in gold plating.
