TAMBARAM AIRFORCE STATION CELEBRATES GOLDEN JUBILEE OF 1971 WAR VICTORY

            Grand welcome was given to ‘Swarnim Vijay Varsh Mashaal’ and various cultural activities were organised for commemorating the 50 years of victory in 1971 war at Tambaram Air Force Station, and 1971 war veterans were also honoured. The Victory Flame reached the Tambaram Air Force Station today. Air warriors, families and a hundred of trainees assembled on either side of the road with salutation to receive the Mashaal. Air Commodore Vipul Singh, Air Officer Commanding, Air Force Station Tambaram along with Veterans received the Swarnim Vijay Mashaal at the Air Force Base.

            Various cultural programmes by Kendriya Vidyalaya students, performance by close quarter battle team of Air Warriors, NCC Cadets and Air Warrior Drill Team were showcased during the event. In the end, the 1971 War Veterans were presented with memento by Air Officer Commanding, Tambaram to honour their distinguished service to the country during the 1971 War.

   The Victory Flame of Southern direction is in the city since 20 July, 2021 and taken to military stations and civil administration offices for various commemorative functions. The year 2021 marks the 50th Anniversary of  Indian Armed Forces in the 1971 Indo-Pak War. The Golden Jubilee of this historic victory is being celebrated year long as ‘Swarnim Vijay Varsh’ with fanfare, commemorative events and parading of Four Swarnim Vijay Mashaal (Victory Flames) in all four directions of the country. It aims to collect earth from the cities and villages of the 1971 Indo-Pak War Heroes and bring it back to Delhi, further to be ensconced with National War Memorial.
