SUPERHEROES HONOURED AT 5TH EDITION OF ALERT BEING AWARDS
~ Thiru Ma Subramanian, Honourable Health Minister presented the awards to Real Life heroes & received the special award on behalf of the Health and Family Welfare Department, GoTN ~
Chennai, March 25th, 2022: The Fifth Edition of “ALERT Being” Awards, held today at Chennai to honour Good Samaritans who have contributed to society by saving lives, even during the pandemic COVID 19. ALERT, a vol untary non-profit organisation working to ensure ‘Right to Life’ a reality in India organised the award ceremony and presented awards to 15 real-life heroes who have helped save or preserve life from different walks of life across the following categories – individuals, organizations and people going beyond the call of duty. Thiru Ma Subramanian, Honourable Health Minister gave away the awards to real-life heroes selected by the distingui shed members of the ABA jury. The Honourable Minister received the special award on behalf of the Departm ent of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Tamil Nadu conferred by ALERT, for stupendous work during the COVID 19 Pandemic in 2021.

The ALERT Being Awards under the Individual category was presented to 7 real-life heroes who had all put their life at risk to save others. The Category of Going Beyond Call of Duty was presented to A super Cop from Chen nai Ms Rajeshwari and Ms Vanaja from Manargudi. Under Organisation Category: Street Vision Social and Cha rit able Trust, Aishwaryam Trust and Soulfree received the awards. Under Special Category, Caritas India and Ford Business Solutions, India received the Award. The ALERT Being Icon award for the organization was pres ented to the Infosys Foundation.
The distinguished members of the ABA Jury were Ms. Veena Kumaravel, Founder, Natural Group of Salons: Thir u. Md. Shakeel Akhtar IPS, Director General of Police (DGP) CB-CID; Nawabzada Mohammed Asif Ali, Heir Appa rent & Dewan to the Prince of Arcot; Dr. J.S. Rajkumar, Chairman and Chief Surgeon, Lifeline Hospitals; and Mr. Sujith Kumar, Founder, Maatram Foundation. The event had advisors in Dr. Renuka David, Managing Director, Radiant Medical Services and Mr. C. K. Kumaravel, CEO and Co-Founder, Natural Group of Salons.
Mr. V.M.Muralidharan, Chairman, ALERT said, “We are grateful to our Hon’ble CM Thiru Mu Ka Stalin, for launching the noble and much needed ‘Nammai Kakkum 48’ scheme, to provide emergency ‘life saving’ support to helpless acciden t victims, free of cost and without any time delay. We at ALERT NGO extend our support to our government, in the imple mentation of the “Nammai Kaakkum 48” scheme, through effective collaboration, with our experience in ‘life saving’ mis sion, over the last 15 years. With the wide spread of ALERT trained volunteers across TamilNadu, we will play our resp onsible support to make our Chief Minister’s scheme effective, and reach every nook of corner of the state.”
Speaking about the awardees, Ms. Kala Balasundaram, Founder Trustee said, “We believe that the humanity, com passion, and goodness in the world prevails, and they need to be celebrated to create the much needed ripple of optim ism and hope in the society. Today is a celebration of these inspiring ordinary human beings who put their heart, over and beyond themselves to become the extraordinary ALERT Beings.”
Speaking on the occasion Mr. Rajesh R Trivedi, Co-Founder & Managing Trustee, ALERT said, “We received 134 nominations, each of them incredible stories of grit, of which 112 were from TamilNadu and the remaining from rest of India. While there are limited awards, every selfless do-gooder is a real life hero. The next decade for ALERT will be rapid empowerment of common people in emergency care in collaboration with the Government, institutions, industries etc., so that more lives can be saved with a specific focus on rural and youth. The awardees inspire us to do more.”
ALERT, a Chennai based NGO is a voluntary non-profit organisation working to ensure ‘Right to Life’ becomes a reality in India marching towards the Goal set by legendary former President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam – “Train one in every family on Emergency Care”. On one hand, ALERT trains the common man on emergency response while on the other it collaborates with other stakeholders of the emergency response ecosystem such as ambulance serv ices, hospitals, legal & enforcements, government bodies, research Institutes, etc. to better the emergency res ponse ecosystem.
