SRMIST NSS Students pledge to combat drug abuse KATTANKULATHUR,
Students of SRM Institute of Science and Technolgy a premier institute of higher Learning in science Engineering, Management, Law, and Agriculture, among several other fields of
excellence, pledged to combat the menace of drug abuse and illicit traftrafficking.
At a function held at SRMIST Kattankulathur on recently – Mr. P. Aravindhan, IPS, Zonal
Director of Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Chennai, delivered an inspiring speech, that
created an awareness among young women and men students about the harmful effects of
substance abuse. He also delivered a pledge, that was duly sworn in by students of various
clubs and student organisations of SRMIST, including National Service Scheme (NSS).
The event continued with lively interactive sessions with students who shared their
experiences of how the menace of substance and drug abuse was wrecking the society, and harming the career of youth.
B.Pharm students made e-poster presentations and showcased
relevant videos on drug abuse and prizes were awarded to the best presentations.
The event witnessed overwhelming participation that comprised students from various years of B. Pharm to PhD staff, and others including volunteers nearly 600 volunteers of NSS.
Dr. V. Chitra, Dean of SRM College of Pharmacy, SRMIST, welcomed the gathering for the
event, held at Hippocrates Auditorium (IIIrd Floor) of SRM Medical College and Research Centre.
