We are pleased to share that SRM Institute of HB Hotel Management at SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST), Kattankulathur, recently celebrated World Chefs Day. This prestigious event brought together esteemed chefs from around the world to honor the vital role chefs play in shaping culinary traditions, promoting healthy eating, and fostering cultural exchange, in commemoration of World Chefs Day, observed annually on October 20th.
The chief guest for the event was Chef Pham Van Hoang, an internationally renowned culinary artist, with expertise in international sculpture cooperation and training across Japan, Korea, Italy, and Australia. Chef Hoang conducted a live demonstration and workshop for students, offering invaluable insights into global culinary trends. Students from various colleges participated in the demonstration, enriching their knowledge and skills in the culinary arts.
The event also featured a traditional Fruit Mixing Ceremony, a ritual that involves mixing fruits, nuts, and spices soaked in spirits, marking the beginning of Christmas preparations.
The occasion was graced by distinguished chefs from the South India Chefs Association (SICA), SRMIST’s Registrar Dr. S. Ponnusamy, and Director of SRM IHM Dr. D. Antony Ashok Kumar. During the event, the board members of SICA honored Dr. Ponnusamy, Dr. Ashok Kumar, and Chef Pham Van Hoang for their significant contributions to the culinary field.
