SRM College of Nursing hosts 8th national conference on trends, shaping strategies for comprehensive care
“Nurses at forefront of healthcare delivery”

Speakers at a national conference on Friday said that nurses were at the forefront of healthcare delivery, while stressing on the importance of knowledge transfer in the profession.
SRM College of Nursing, SRMIST, hosted the 8th National Nursing Conference on Friday, 09.02.24. More than 570 participants including faculty of nursing institutions, staff nurses, Ph.D scholars apart from graduate and post graduate students of nursing from 34 institutions all over India took part in the day-long conference.
While delivering the Chief Guest address, Prof. T. Samuel Ravikumar, Trauma & Disaster Management Consultant, and former Trauma Centre Coordinator and Head, Emergency Nursing, CMC, Vellore, said nurses were at the forefront of healthcare delivery. The nursing staff, he said, offered compassionate service and expert medical care across a wide range of the most complex and challenging situations.
Lt. Col. (Dr.) A.Ravikumar, Pro Vice Chancellor (Medical), SRM IST, while presiding over the event, highlighted the role of nurses, who played the the most vital and critical care in healthcare. Dr. Ravikumar also emphasised the need for ongoing support and investment in education, training, and well-being of the nursing fraternity. Dr. C. Kanniammal, M.Sc (N), PhD. Dean, SRM College of Nursing, while welcoming the gathering, said the objective of the conference was to explore the dynamic trends shaping the nursing profession, identify challenges they faced, and highlight exciting global opportunities, as well as the global impact of knowledge transfer in Nursing profession. Earlier, Dr Nitin Nagarkar, Dean, SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre, delivered the inaugural address.
Dr. Venkatraman, Medical Superintendent, SRM MCH & RC felicitated the guests and organising secretary Dr.R. Vijayalakshmi, M.Sc (N), Ph.D., Vice Principal , SRM College of Nursing, thanked the gathering.
