Renowned Diabetologist Dr. V. Mohan Receives Prestigious Lakshmipat Singhania Award from President Smt. Droupadi Murmu
• Second Indian doctor to receive this award in Leader in Science and Technology category
Chennai, December 8, 2023 : Recognizing outstanding contributions and exceptional leadership in Research on Diabetology, Dr. V. Mohan, Chairman of Dr. Mohan’s Diabetes Specialties and Madras Diabetes Research Founda tion, was honoured with the Lakshmipat Singhania Award in the category of ‘Leader in Science and Technology.’ at the IIM Lucknow National Leadership Awards 2022-23 function which took place at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi on December 7th, 2023. Her Excellency, the President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, presented the prest igious award to Dr. V. Mohan. This well recognised platform is a joint initiative by IIM Lucknow and the industrial conglomerate JK Organization, in Delhi.
Expressing his gratitude and reflecting on the occasion, Dr. V. Mohan, Chairman – Dr. Mohan’s Diabetes Specia lties Centre and MDRF stated, “I am very humbled to receive this honour from the President of India, Her Exce llency Smt. Droupadi Murmu. I am happy that our research on diabetes which has improved the lives of millions of people, has been recognised by this prestigious award.
In a career spanning over five decades, Dr. V. Mohan has published 1635 papers including 1052 original papers w hich has received 193,000 citation and h-index of 153. Dr. Mohan received has numerous awards and accolad es including the prestigious Dr. B C Roy Award from the Medical Council of India, the Dr. Harold Rifkin Award by A merican Diabetes Association and the Padma Shri in 2012 from the Government of India.
Dr. Mohan has been pl aying a pivotal role in leading Dr. Mohan’s Diabetes Specialities Centre, India’s largest ch ain of hospitals special i zing in Diabetes Care which has touched the lives of over a million people Dr. V. Mohan has also been at the foref ront of promoting and pioneering breakthrough research in the field of Diabetes thro ugh the Madras Diabetes Research Foundation including describing subtypes of type 2 diabetes and monogenic diabetes.
