World Vision India Collaborates with Renault Nissan Technology and Business Centre India Ltd (RNTBCI) to Implement Community Development Initiatives in Chengalpattu, Tamil Nadu
Chengalpattu, 22 September, 2020: Renault Nissan Technology and Business Centre India Ltd (RNTBCI) and World Vision India have been working on various community development initiatives across the district of Chengalpattu. The project implementation covers areas of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), education, health and environment.
One of the key initiative was enhancing infrastructure at the Department of Pediatrics and Department of Neur o Surgery as per the NABH standards in the Government Medical College, Chengalpattu. In addition to pediatric ventilators and high flow nasal cannula devices, a new modular operation theatre with state of the art equipme nt was handed over to the hospital facility. The department of Neurosurgery treats around 600 outpatients and around 90 head injury patients per month.
Mr. A. John Louis, IAS, District Collector, Chengalpattu District inaugurated the facility today. He shared, “Advan ced facilities through CSR Partnership of RNTBCI and World Vision India have been provided. On behalf of the district and the hospital, I appreciate this initiative as we together continue to serve our society.” Government officials and members of civil society organizations attended the inaugural function.
Dr. R. Shanthimalar MD., DA., Dean, Chengalpattu Medical College & Hospital says, “With increasing demand for neurosurgical treatment for complex brain tumors and head injuries, hundreds of patients will now have state of the art multispecialty treatment at their reach”
The partnership also helped meet some pressing needs of the, Rajeshwari Vengadachalam Government Arts Coll ege, Cheng alpattu. Interventions included desks and benches, upgraded auditorium with an audiovisual learning equipment, and gender friendly sanitation facilities for both male and female students. Positive messag es to build student confidence have been reinf orced through colorful wall murals. Around 400 girls have been trained on menstrual hygiene. The restrooms have a changing room, and incinerators for safe disposal of sanita ry napk ins. To help combat COVID-19, the partnership has been instrumental in providing a Hand Wash Station for stud ent safety on campus. As the college has national, state and district level sports champions, sports equip ment for throw ball, cricket, badm inton and football have been provided. These facilities will benefit 1800 girls and 725 boys studying in the college.
Mr Chidambaram Vinayagam, Principal, Government R. V. Arts College, “This college has been educating students from very low-income families for the last 50 years. These facilities provided are much needed investment enabling students to progress in their higher education and personal growth, especially in today’s highly competitive context.”
