This film does not have a ONE story. There are many stories. These stories take place in a college. There are many stories like a hero who is waiting to take revenge for the damage done at a young age, the anarchy of a politician’s succession, college elections, a woman who fights for the rights of caste oppression. In all these stories, only the story of the protesting woman stands in the mind.
It can be said that even though the director has come to tell about the various situations happening in the society, these stories have not been connected properly in the script. The screenplay moves through two women at the beginning of the film. Had it gone this way, it would have been a great female-centric film. Instead, the screenplay goes on the heroes beating a Uturn. This is a bit of a setback for the film.
Although there are two heroes in the film, it is the two women Banu and Sanjana Natarajan who get the most attention for their performances. Struggle, love, friendship, contemporary women are brought into the performance. Kalidas Jayaram plays the role of a college student. It can be said that Arjun Dash’s voice, known for his ‘Mike’ voice in many films, is a minus in this film. We are confused whether he is loving or intimidating when he romances in his husky voice.
Even though there are three music composers Sanjit Hegde, Dhruv Vishwanath and Kalarav Kohithi, it is the background score by Venkat and Satchidananda Sankara Narayanan that makes it sound. Backround scores well in many places like emotional and action.
The biggest strength of this film is the cinematography by Zimzi Khalid and Brisley Oscar D’Souza. They have given a spectacular lighting effect in the cinematography.
Had the foundation of a strong screenplay been set in a good story, this ‘POR’ would have been a huge success.
