Nayanthara called me while I was sleeping and said that I am not acti ng in the film. You do two things wrong with him. One called on the phone at 3 o’clock. Another thing is that BB has mis sed the opportunity in the film industry,” says director Sathyan.

This documentary bears traces of the st ruggle behind an ‘actress’ getting the ep ithet ‘lady superstar’ just like them in th e male-dominated Indian film industry. But one can feel that there is a sense of incompleteness and superficiality in th em.

Keen to study CA in Tiruvalla, a small to wn in Kerala, ‘Diana’ had no big dreams of cinema. That moment when Malayala m director Sathyan Anthikadu called hi m on the phone became the seed of grea t stardom. Diana, who initially refused the film industry opportunity, said, “It’s 3 midnight. Nayanthara called me while I was sleeping and said that I am not act ing in the film. You do two things wrong with him. One called on the phone at 3 o’clock. Another thing is that I missed th e opportunity in the film industry,” says director Sathyan.

Nayanthara made her film debut in 200 3 with Jayaram’s ‘Manasinakare’ direct ed by Sathyan Anthikadu. It was Sath ya n Anthikkadu who changed her name to Nayanthara when she was Diana. The co llections of these incidents were interes ting in the documentary, as were the dir ect reports of the directors.

.The next film is ‘Vismayathumbathu’ dir ected by Fazil and starring Mohanlal. Th e information shared by director Fazil a bout this film is also noteworthy.

Nayanthara, who went on to star in ‘Aiy a’ with Sarathkumar in Top Gear, ‘Chand ramukhi’ with Rajini, and ‘Rappakal’ wit h Mammootty, mentions that the review s of ‘Ghajini’ were challenging for Nayan thara.

Then I was chased by criticisms related to body image and body weight. If my pe rformance was criticized, I would have a ccepted it. But I was at a loss as to how t o face this,” says Nayanthara. After that, the documentary moves to the film ‘Bill a’ without stressing about the films he a cted in and how he faced the criticism.

For various reasons, the documentary d oes not fully record the ups and downs of Nayanthara’s film career, with only s cant images and information on most of Nayanthara’s films. In between, Nayan t thara shares about her love life and bein g cheated by those she trusted. The plac e s where Nayanthara mentions why she doesn’t question and criticize those who still ask her about it, those who create fa lse stories, why she doesn’t ask the man concerned about it, are really importan t .

He says that at one point he was forced to quit the film industry. The film, which should have talked about the backgroun nd and the pressures given to him at this point, does not record anything in this r egard. Also, Directors Sathyan Anthika du, Thandi Fazil, Rana, Nagachaitanya, R adhika, Parvathy, Upendra, Tamannaah, It’s tiring that anyone talking  about Vija y Sethupathi or Atlee doesn’t give any a ss additional information other than pr aising him.

In the documentary which mentions the journey of an actress in the film world, w e can see that there are many inadequac ies in it. For example, with the movie ‘Na num Rowdi Thaan’, the journey of love b egins after the end of the film industry. As the segment begins, the cinematic jo urney ends abruptly, narrowing down to two lovers’ conversations and a weddin g event. Apathy and lethargy stick toget her and refuse to continue.

For 21 years, the documentary about th e journey of the Kolochum actress as th e only woman in the cinema has become a mere ritual. Although the beginning is i nteresting , the focus is not on stretchin g. For those fans who are eager to know the journey of their ideal heroine and w ant to get inspiration, Wikipedia is little more than information.

In one scene of this documentary, actres s Radhika said, “Dhanush contacted me during the film ‘Nan Naam Rowdy Than’ and asked ‘Nayanthara and Vignesh Shi van’ are in love…can you feel it?” I was s urprised. I never noticed it,” says Radhi ka. Similarly, it is noteworthy that some scenes taken during the filming of ‘Nanu m Raudithan’ are also included in this do cumentary.

Overall, this documentary, which is inte resting at the beginning, at one point fa ils to add up to its justification and fee ls incomplete due to inadequacies of infor mation, lack of emphasis and super ficia  ity.
