In this world, some people might not be how they look or pretend to be. They are fake by choice or situation. Naduvan is a story of a man who is surro u nded by such fake people. He finds out about them one by one and finds a way to deal with them.

Movie Review-;
The movie, which is set against the backdrop of Kodaikanal, begins with an aerial shot of the hill station. A man who goes out to attend nature’s call is taken aback at the sight of a partially charred dead body lying on the road. We are then introduced to Karthik (Bharath), a visibly disturbed family man, who has made up his mind to take revenge on someone who broke his trust.Something that you keep noticing as you sit through Bharath’s Nadu v an is its artificiality. You feel it in the way scenes are lit and staged as though they were trying to recreate an im age from some film or TV series. You feel it again in the extremely pompous-sounding voiceover in Bharath’s vo ice that’s about the meaning of life or something like that. You feel it in the perfect manner in which female ch aracters appear, in perfect clothing and makeup, even in casual everyday home settings. And you feel it most in the way the film painfully builds up to something even though we’ve gotten there hours before it does. That’s not to say that the film didn’t have potential. At its core is a basic revenge plot that involves two different kinds of betrayal.
The film takes its time to establish little details in the build up to this and you can see how all this could have culminated to become something explosive. Although it takes its time, these details aren’t exactly original or interesting. For instance, the film takes dozens of dialogue to keep establishing how busy Bharath is at work. We then get a proportionately large number of scenes to establish how shady another character is. All this works on a plot level, but these scenes and dialogues operate on such a basic level that they feel like placeholders for an actual writer to come in and work on. So if a scene is written to show us how Bharath hardly spends any time at home, we get shots where he leaves his breakfast midway with lines sounding like, “Sorry wife. I need to rush to work. Don’t you know how busy I am. I’ll eat at work,” to which his wife reacts with a sigh.Bharath once again shows that he is a decent performer, mostly let down by the scripts. Naduvan is no different for him. Even in a poorly written role, he shines whenever the opportunity arises. He does his part sincerely. There is nothing much to add to it. Sharran Kumar directs Naduvan.
It is a hybrid genre-mixing thriller and drama in equal portions with a bit of dark comedy thrown in, as well.The story of Naduvan is simple, but Sharran makes it convoluted with multiple characters and mixing up of half-baked ideas. Set in a picturesque location, the movie stars with a glimpse of a gruesome murder. It then shows the hero waiting to kill someone. And then, the whole thing cuts a family drama.And then on the other end, we get the absolute opposite kind of writing. In one scene, we walk in on Bharath’s friend as he’s pleasuring himself. But is he really!? Is he not? There’s tension, there’s suspense, there’s eerie music and for a change, there’s actual filmmaking, as we wait to find out if he is. And when the camera switches angles, the editing does the rest to give us the shock of our lives. It’s the only two minutes in the film when a director seems to be in control. But for all the elaborate build-up, the reveal is pretty juvenile. We think it’s a dude playing with himself but the effect is of the makers messing with our heads.The small family comprises of father, mother and daughter. Bharath essaying the role of a father, is given a slightly mature look.
He is suitable for the part. Coming to the family story involves an age-old busy husband ignoring the wife to earn money cliché. We know the wife is unhappy, and it would lead to something.The ‘something’ is revealed through another character Guru. It is routine within a family drama space where the husband has no time for the wife. All this is fine, but one is still wondering about the opening bits. The interval too is completed while the wondermen t continues.The link to the start finally happens in the second half. Both the incidents are connected to Guru and his small gang. However, by the time everything is connected, it is too late. So much routine content has passed in between.But the film moves away from these touches and begins to go soft on us. A second sub-plot suddenly becomes important and it turns into a mix of a home invasion thriller and a heist comedy. And when you think that it’s already a revenge thriller, we end up feeling like helpless children in the middle of their fighting parents. There’s too many things happening and in that mess,
we end up right in the middle, not knowing where to look. Seems like the only person who had any fun during or after this movie was Bharath’s friend. Or did he.We only continue to watch to see where the whole thing ends due to a police character. It leads to an exciting pre-climax and climax. The execution could have been better, though. Overall, Naduvan has good casting and background score. But, it falters on the story and screenplay departments. The half-baked ideas and execution with confused writing further mar the impact of the thriller. Give it a try if you like the thriller genre and want to see something, even if it’s half-baked.The good thing about the film is the casting. Each actor looks apt for the part, which adds to the intrigue given it is a thriller. But, everyone suffers from poorly written roles that lack a proper arc and conclusion.ut to flashback, Karthik leads a happy life with his wife Madhu (Aparna Vinod) and daughter. Though Madhu has been upset with Karthik for a while, thanks to his obsession with his work, they come across as an ideal couple. However, what bothers Karthik is the irresponsible behaviour of Shiva (Gokul Anand), his business partner. Meanwhile, Guru (Aruvi Bala) joins Karthik’s company as an employee.
He finds that Shiva and Madhu are having an illicit relationship, but decides not to reveal it to Karthik after Shiva threatens to kill him.Aparna Vinod is the weakest of the lot. She is the most inconsistently written character. The sudden change in her role looks so abrupt and fake. Gokul Anand is decent, but it is a one-dimensional part that ends before it could shine. Among the rest, there are a couple of known faces essaying the roles of Guru and Pal ani. The latter is wasted big time. The former suffers the same fate as Gokul but gets a slightly better character arc. However, unable to hide the brutal truth, Guru writes a latter to Karthik, revealing all details about his wife’s infidelity, and escapes to his hometown after quitting the job. Upon knowing the truth, the latter decides to fini sh off both Shiva and Madhu. At his home town, Guru gets embroiled in a murder case along with his friends. A cop (Yog Japee) asks them to pay a hefty sum to acquit them of the crime they committed in a fit of rage. Guru and friends hatch a plan to loot the money from Karthik’s home at a time when the latter plans to kill his wife and Shiva.
The music by Dharan Kumar is alright. The songs come at the very start. They help in establishing the space and characters. The background is more effective than them. Yuvaraj is the cinematographer. He has captured the locations from the hill station beautifully. Sunny Sawrav’ editing could have been better. The writing is standard fare and lacks any depth. The plot looks okayish on paper, but the execution falters as the story progresses. The characters, except for Gokul, leave little impact. We hardly get to empathize with the lead characters as the ma nner in which their roles are written lacks novelty. The emotional scenes, too, fall flat making the proceedings unengaging. Despite having no interesting twists and turns in the turn of events, the story actually becomes in triguing with some engaging moments in the third act. But the film loses steam midway which affects the overall narration.The role of a workaholic entrepreneur in the film is no challenge to Bharath, yet he puts his best foot forward. Gokul excels in the role of his cunning friend who sleeps around with his wife.
Yog Japee and Aparna are okay while Aruvu Bala shows promise, thanks to the way in which he emotes help lessness and naivety. Yuva’s cinematography helps the film to bring in the required mood, but the lack of a co hesive screenplay is evident throughout the film. Dharan’s music is okayish. Kaalai Adhikaalai song, which ap pears in the beginning of the film, stands out. Had the makers come up with a tighter screenplay with ample edge-of-the-seat moments, focusing more on the emotional side of lead characters, the movie would have worked as a thriller. Naduvan ends up as a half-baked attempt.
