BECOMES INDIA’S SECOND LARGEST MULTI-SPECIALITY HOSPITAL CHAIN 

  • The transfer of ownership has taken place following completion of all applicable regulatory approvals

Chennai, April 30, 2021

Manipal Hospitals, today announced the successful completion of acquiring 100% stake in Columbia Asia Hos pitals Private Limited (Columbia Asia). The transfer of ownership has taken place post the completion of all reg ulatory approvals. With this acquisition, Manipal Hospitals becomes India’s second largest multi-speciality ho spital chain. Today, the integrated organization with the strong clinical expertise and breadth of services of Ma nipal Hospitals, complemented by the strengths of Columbia Asia in clinical and service quality, is uniquely pla ced to enhance access and address the growing demand for high quality tertiary and quaternary healthcare in the country.

Commenting on the completion of the deal, Dr. Ranjan Pai, Chair man, Manipal Education and Medical Group (MEMG), said, “We are pleased to have completed the regulatory processes that now allow these two outstanding he althcare delivery organisations to function as one. The acquisition helps Manipal Hospitals with a remarkable geographical and cultural fit that Columbia Asia off ers to reach a larger national footprint.  Together, the combined entity now has 26 hospitals across 14 cities with 7,000+ beds, and a talented pool of 4,000+ doctors and 10,000+ employees. Treating over 4 million patients an nually, the hospital chain today, ranks amongst the largest healthcare provider networks in the country.

Columbia Asia Hospitals commenced operations in India in 2005 in Hebbal, Bengaluru and operated 11 hospitals across the country in Bangalore, Mysore, Kolkata, Gurugram, Ghaziabad, Patiala and Pune with of over 1,300 be ds, 1,200 clinicians and 4,000 employees.
