Story-;
There is no doubt that there are many advantages of cell phones that have become the sixth finger like the world at the fingertips, communication at the desired time, exchange of ideas, security, news… But the fact that these c ell phones have turned into drugs like Tasmac alcohol is something that needs to be mentioned in today’s times. Cell phones are attached to our bodies 24 hours a day. From the alarm that wakes us up in the morning, to hours of talking, business, and chat, to lulling us to sleep at night, cell phones are what we are all about. In this way, an other cruel face of the phone, which is inevitable in the lives of many of us, is created in the story called Love To day. Pradeep Ranganathan has directed a short film named ‘Up (Ba) Lock’ which Pradeep Ranganathan directed a few years ago and now he has directed it as a full length film. Without making any changes in the plot, Pinny Applas has extended the screenplay to about two and a half hours and that too in a way that attracts the fans.
Pradeep, who belongs to a middle class family, and Ivana, a lady of her family, fall in love. Both of them think that they know and understand each other well. At this time, Ivana’s father Sathyaraj comes to know about their love affair and he gives a green flag to their love and puts a condition to Mereju. That is, he orders Ivana to keep Prad eep’s cell phone and Ivana’s cell phone to Pradeep for a whole day. After going home, Pradeep opens Nikita’s pho ne out of curiosity and checks the information. He gets to know another side of Nikita like Twitter, various boy friends, old love, dating. Similarly, Niki opens Pradeep’s cell phone and looks at it. Inside is a porn tent. It is reve aled that Pradeep’s friends sent him and his younger sister obscene messages. What happened to their love after that? Did the two get together in the end, or not? That is the story of the film.

Movie Review-;
Ivana’s father, Sathyaraj, comes to know about Pradeep’s love for Ivana. Neither rejecting nor accepting this lo ve, Sathyaraj puts forward a condition that both of them should exchange their mobile phones with each other. He also promises to marry them if their love continues after 24 hours. ‘Love Today’ tells the love story of this pe riod, whether the love of this couple overcomes this condition, what are the secrets hidden in their mobile pho nes, and what are the problems that arise due to it. When I saw the trailer of Love Today, I understood that the story is based on the problem of changing cell phones. The idea is great. But there was a doubt as to how Prade ep would show it on screen.
Director Pradeep has created a seamless screenplay with rich visuals so that the ‘traditional’ slippages that hap pen when successful short films are turned into films are not continued. Most of the scenes and dialogues are a reflection of the lives of 2k and 90s kids and the way they approach love. It was only when I saw the film that I came to know that it was Pradeep Gilladi. Pradeep Ranganathan has directed the film Love Today and has acted as a hero for the first time. Pradeep has shown normality in the film without giving over build-up as it happens in real life. Pradeep Uthman tells his girlfriend Nikita (Ivana) that I know everything about you.
As the film is written by Pradeep, he has created the body language of the hero character ‘Uttaman Pradeep’ to s uit him. Pradeep’s performance, which comes across as Uttam, is nowhere near alienated or stilted. At the same time, actor Dhanush’s body language is peeking at many places. Dhanush comes and goes in front of our eyes in everything from smiles, gestures and facial expressions. Pradeep could have avoided this? For her part, Ivana, w ho plays the heroine Nikita, wrestles with Pradeep. Right in love fight, right in acting! He thinks that his girlfrien d is his world. After some romance they introduce Nikita’s strict father Sathyaraj.
A big twist in the love story takes place through him. Radhika as Pradeep’s mother and Sathyaraj as Nikita’s fath er are perfect choices. In this exciting T20 match, both men converted the few balls they got into free hits and sc ored sixes. The emotional scene where Radhika talks to her son at the end and the scene where Satyaraj treats Pradeep for the first time in her house are examples of that. Sathyaraj makes Pradeep and Nikita exchange cell phones for one day only. He says that if everything goes well then he will get them married. Like his previous fi lm, Pradeep has given a good character to Yogi Babu in this film as well.
A round of applause to the director for making Yogi Babu, who has been entertaining the fans for so many days wi th tongue-in-cheek jokes and caricatures, change from Chandramukhi mode to Ganga mode and speak agai nst caricatures. Pradeep and Nikita get to know some of their secrets after exchanging cell phones. In the first half, Pradeep discovers Nikita’s cell phone secrets. Nikita realizes that her boyfriend is very bad. Will they over come all these problems and come together? All the supporting characters like Raveena Ravi who plays Prade ep’s sister, Finaly Bharat who comes as friends, Aditya Kathir have done their roles well.
Yuvan’s fans who entered the theater excitedly saying ‘The forest has calmed down, give a salute to Yuvan who is making a comeback for the 29908th time’, gave a hint of sadness to Yuvan’s fans, but Yuvan’s voice in the bac kground tried to restore that old magic. A few outright obscenities could have been omitted; Apart from a few shots that are kept as saying the same thing in some scenes, there are some flaws here and there as if it could have been displayed in the screen language with a little sense of responsibility. Boy bestie, cybercrime may still be approached with a clear understanding in some places.
At the same time, the first half of the screenplay is divided into mistakes made by women and mistakes made by men in the second half. The film has approached many serious matters like problems, doubts and emotional tur moil in a romantic relationship as a comedy in an enjoyable way. Pradeep has told the story of modern day love mixed with comedy. Cell phones can betray what we are like when we are alone. Pradeep’s handling of the story is beautiful. The film has some minus points, build ups but it doesn’t irritate us. The director has realized the fans’ desire and given the film. As an actor, Pradeep gets applause from fans. He needs to focus more on emotional sce nes only.
Ivana has realized her character and played it.Even though Sathyaraj doesn’t have much work to do, he still impr esses in his coming and going scenes. Radhika Sarathkumar has given an excellent performance as Pradeep’s mot her. Akshaya and Raveena Ravi, who played Ivana’s sister, were also outstanding. If the story was moved by sho wing only the hero and heroine, the film would have lost. But Pradeep added to the interestingness of the story by bringing Raveena Ravi and Yogi Babu. Yogi Babu’s performance as the future husband of Pradeep’s sister Div ya (Raveena) is superb. BGM by Yuvin Shankar Raja. Great strength at climax.
