Ladies Circle India inaugurates project Crimson, a low cost sanitary napkin manufacturing unit in Coimbatore
Coimbatore,21st August 2021:With a vision to provide livelihood for the underprivileged, Coimbatore Metropolitan Ladies Circle 23 joined hands with Rhythem- Social Service Society for Women to launch the first low cost sanitary napkin manufacturing unit in Coimbatore today. The project seeks to raise funds to start small scale production of sanitary napkins run by local women in need of a way to support themselves.
The taboo associated with menstruation effects all the women who have to go through this process every mont h. India has menstruation taboos and beliefs which have almost crippled its women with chronic reproductory in fections. Project Crimson was started with an aim to break the taboo around menstruation by providing low cost sanitary napkins for the underprivileged women. The project also looks to empower millions of women from sel f-help groups to have their own livelihood through this initiative.
