 KURANGU PEDAL TAMIL MOVIE REVIEW

Actor Sivakarthikeyan is producing movies with good story through his company Sivakarthikeyan Productions. In that vein, Sivakarthikeyan is producing the film ‘Kurungu Pedal’ directed by Kamalakannan of ‘Madhubanatakadai’ fame.

The film transports the audience to the summers of the 1980s on the picturesque banks of the mesmerizing Cauvery River in the Salem and Erode districts of Tamil Nadu. This heartwarming story unfolds the bond between a son, Mariappan, and his father, who strives to master the art of cycling. Inspired by Rasi Alagappan’s short story ‘Bicycle’, the film is a poignant study of family structure and dreams.

Director Kamalakannan has won many accolades for his innovative approach and unique style in film making. His earlier films like ‘Madhupanakadai’ and ‘Vattam’ have won many prestigious awards. In 2012, Kamalakannan was recognized as the Best Debut Director with a Special Mention at the Aravindan Press. The very next year, he won the Tamil Nadu Progressive Writers Association’s best producer award. He also received the prestigious Outstanding Community Award from the Coimbatore Rotary Society in 2009. His dedication to the art of cinema and his contributions to society are all worth appreciating.

Composer Gibran is acclaimed for his soulful melodies and mesmerizing background music. His music in this film reflects the world of children and brings the music of the eighties back to the screen.

Santhosh Velumurugan, V.R. Raghavan, M. Gnanasekar, Ratheesh and Sai Ganesh have been roped in to play the lead roles in this masterpiece. Renowned pediatric expert Nandakumar with over 15 years of experience imparted 45 days of meticulous acting training to these young talents. Along with them talented actor Kali Venkat has played the role of father. Nuckalights Prasanna Balachander and Jenson Diwakar play the lead roles in the film.

Although there are many good things about the film, the first part of the film is a bit boring. The second part also moves a bit slower. The film can be appreciated as it is centered on children…
