INDIAN COAST GUARD SEIZES 1200 KG SEA CUCUMBER OFF MANDAPAM

            INDIAN COAST GUARD SEIZES 1200 KG SEA CUCUMBER OFF MANDAPAM

            In yet another successful joint operation with Forest Department, the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) seized 1200 Kg of banned sea cucumber from Mandapam and apprehended two personnel.

            The Indian Coast Guard Station Mandapam received an intelligence input about illegal transhipment of banned Sea Cucumber at 0040 hours on 06 Jul 2021. The ICG initiated a joint patrol with personnel from the Forest Department in dark hours and monitored the movement of suspicious vessels. Subsequently, the boat was intercepted at 0630 hours on 06 Jul 2021 and boarded by joint team of ICG and Forest Dept. The Boarding Team recovered 110 gunny bags of sea cucumber weighing 1200 Kg. The boat with its two crew was brought to Mandapam North Fishing Harbour.

            On investigation it was revealed that the consignment was planned for transhipment across  the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) during dark hours.
