INDIAN COAST GUARD LOCATED 06 SRI LANKAN NATIONALS AT FOURTH ISLAND, RAMESHWARAM
In a swift operation, Indian Coast Guard located 06 Sri Lankan nationals from fourth island, Rameshwaram in morning hours on 22 Mar 2022. An input was received at 0830 hrs regarding illegal migration of Sri Lankan nationals to India.
On receipt of input, ICGS Mandapam launched Hovercraft H-181 immediately at 0840 hrs for sanitising the area. At about,1030 hrs the hovercraft located 06 personnel on the fourth island of Rameshwaram.
On investigation, it was ascertained that,these 06 Sri Lankan personnel comprising 01 male, 02 female and 03 children are residents of Jaffna and Kokupadaiyan. All six personnel were brought to Mandapam hoverport saf ely. A joint interrogation was carried out on arrival. On completion they were handed over to Coastal Security Group, Mandapam for further legal actions.
