INDIAN COAST GUARD AT KARAIKAL GETS NEW INTERCEPTOR BOAT
Interceptor Boat ICGS C-436 is rebased at Karaikal from 01 Apr 22 and will give a major fillip to Indian Coast Guard operations in the vast coastline of Tamil Nadu & Puducherry. ICGS C-436 has complement of 01 Officer and 12 Enrolled personnel. The ship shall be deployed in the Area of Responsibility (AoR) of Indian Coast Guard Station Karaikal. On her maiden entry to base port Karaikal on 01 Apr 2022 a welcome ceremony was organized at Karaikal Port which was graced by Dr. Arun Thambiraj, IAS, District Collector Nagapattinam. The Commandin g Officer ICGS Karaikal, Commanding Officers of Coast Guard Ships, Officers and EPs of Coast Guard, represent atives from stakeholders of Coastal Security and Marine Pollution were present in welcome ceremony.
Indian Coast Guard Ship C-436, Interceptor Boat (IB) is 36th boat of its series and was commissioned at its base port Krishnapatnam by then Chief Secretary of Andhra Pradesh Shri Dinesh Kumar on 05 Jan 18.
The Interceptor Boat is 27.63 meters in length and has been designed and built indigenously. The Boat is fitted with state of art navigation and communication equipment. The sensors and machineries are capable of operati ng in tropical sea conditions/close coast surveillance. The boat is designed to carry one high speed inflatable boa t for boarding operation, Search and Rescue, Law Enforcement and Maritime Patrol. The ship can attain a maxi mum speed of 45 knots and has an endurance of 500 nautical miles at 20 Kn of speed. The sustenance and reach, coupled with the latest and modern equipment & system, provides her the capability to perform the role of an eagle eye on nefarious activities.
