IAP CHENNAI MYORUN 2024 MOVE FOR CURE
On the occasion of World Physiotherapy Day-2024, the IAP Chennai Branch hosts the event “Myorun 2024 Move For Cure”. The event began with a brief inauguration ceremony led by Mistress of Ceremony, Dr. Aaliya Fathima.PT. The event began with Tamil Thai Valthu, then the Chief Guest of Honour delivered the keynote address, emphasising the importance of inclusivity to the audience gathered here.
Further the core of the event “Inclusive run –IAP CHENNAI MYORUN 2024” was inaugurated by our Honourable Chief Guest Dr N.Sankaran PT. It consisted of three rounds of inclusive runs, each covering 1000 meters. Prior to the run, Dr M.Ajith kumar PT organizing secretary provided instructions to parents/caregivers of children with special needs. They also provided instructions on safety precautions and rest intervals as needed. This event was attended by children with muscular dystrophy with manual wheelchairs. The children, parents, and carers informally reported that the event provided them with joy, motivation, and heart-warming experiences.
The “TALENT SHOW” was lead by Dr D.Vincent Jeyaraj PT Event co-ordinator, during which children with special needs demonstrated their talents. It is worth noting that the children emphasised their talents in various fields such as painting, storytelling, and poetry reciting, music, instrumental plays (Key board), and singing. In addition, we (IAP – Chennai Branch) organised a few exciting fitness challenges for undergraduate and postgraduate physiotherapy students, such as the plank challenge and the push-up competition.
A total of 90 Physiotherapists participated in the event, with prizes awarded to winners and runners. We are pleased to inform you that all participants were provided with refreshments, breakfast, certificates, medals and customised t-shirts. Dr B.William Stanley PT, Organizing chairman and Convenor of IAP Chennai greeted the Children’s, parents, physiotherapists, volunteers and supporting staffs with vote of thanks. Finally, the event concluded with the national anthem.
