Edelweiss AMC appoints Trideep Bhattacharya as CO-CIO Equities
Mumbai: September 16, 2021: Edelweiss Asset Management Limited (EAML) one of India’s fastest growing AMCs, in its move to significantly strengthen its long-only equity Mutual Funds investment team, has announced the appointment of Trideep Bhattacharya as CO–CIO (Chief Investment Officer) – Equities.
Welcoming Trideep to the team, Radhika Gupta, MD & CEO, Edelweiss AMC said, “We are delighted to have Trideep on board. Trideep comes with two decades of experience in equity investing across Indian and global markets. Prior to joining Edelweiss AMC, he built a market leading PMS business at Axis AMC, as Senior Portfolio Manager – Alternate Equities. He has also spent a significant amount of time as a portfolio manager at State Street Global Advisors and UBS Global Asset Management in London.
In line with this move to strengthen the long-only equity mutual funds franchise, EAML has also added Abhishek Gupta and Sahil Shah to its equity fund management team.
Abhishek Gupta comes with over 16 years of work experience in Indian equity markets. Prior to joining Edelweiss Mutual Fund, he worked for over a decade at Goldman Sachs Asset Management, Deutsche AMC (India), Baer Capital Partners & Reliance MF (NAM now). As part of the investment team at Goldman Sachs, he worked extensively with the equities team in India and emerging markets, across sectors and geographies.
Sahil Shah comes with over 14 years of work experience as a Fund Manager and Research Analyst. He has been associated with Edelweiss since 2007, in different capacities, as a fund manager for the PMS business and as a sell-side research analyst prior to that.
Edelweiss AMC now has a 17-member strong equity investment team managing money across Long only Equities, Hybrids, and Alternatives. The equity AUM across these strategies has grown 2x in the last 2 years. This expanded team now strengthens and prepares the AMC to be future ready for further growth.
