Dreaming Big: Being Independent and Working My Way to A Master’s Degree
Dreaming Big: Being Independent and Working My Way to A Master’s Degree

I have always been highly ambitious and aspirational. Having completed my engineering degree from Anna Univ ersity in Chennai, I wanted to explore the industry a bit before applying for my Masters. I needed a job that paid well, allowed me the time and space to prepare for further education while staying connected to my core field of learning. As I looked out for jobs – the pandemic hit, thus closing multiple windows of opportunities.
However, the pandemic did see a surge of two things: theEdTech space and coding, a relatively unknown topic until then. I applied for a teaching position and got the job owing to my educational qualification. The job came as a boon – I could work from home, have flexible working hours, yet get paid as per industry standards, allowing me to save up for my Masters’ studies – which I wanted to fund myself.
At WhiteHat Jr, I found a community of women from all walks of life. New mothers who wanted to stay at home with their kids, women who wanted to contribute to their household income, or others like me seeking financial independence.
