Kani’s Oru Oorla Oru Raja
Director Thiru’s wife and daughter of National award-winning filmmaker Agathiyan – Kani has embarked on a new journey with ‘Oru Oorla Oru Raja’. The show recently launched on YouTube channel ‘THEATRE D’ delves into the Indian history in the form of storytelling, which is produced, shot and edited by Thiru.
So, how it all happened? Ask Kani and she says, “Right from childhood, history has been my favorite subject and I always wanted to pass the subject to others. However, it’s a not cherry-pick of major scale crowds and event ual ly wanted to convey it in the form of storytelling. That’s how the idea of Oru Oorla Oru Raja sprang up as these are the first lines in any story narrated by elders to kids. I would ennoble History as ‘Discipline’ that each one of us must be furnished with.
Knowing the history of our lands and ancestors is a mandatory factor as it enables us to understand the cultural ties and traditional values of the Indian sub-continent. By doing so, we aren’t just ma de aware of our past, but significantly can find some positive impact in shaping the future of our race. So I deci ded to get-go with the Indian story. The esthetical beauty, uniqueness, and endowments that our country owns and how it went through a drastic change with the arrival of conquerors from other countries.”
Initially, Kani was confined to doubts about the reception towards this attempt. However, she is now flooded with myriad praises and extols for an excellent approach towards history. She says, “Like anyone else, I was filled with some sort of incertitude about how well the viewers will receive and appreciate it. But to see the heartw arming response after completion of two episodes, I am extremely happy and installed with more confidence to proceed ahead and work harder to bring more content that is engaging and informative.”
