  • The South zone T-20 cricket championship witnessed four teams with 11 players each competing against each other for the coveted trophy
  • Elder sister of renowned Indian cricketer Washington Sundar, Ms Shailaja Sundar, a professional state level cricketer along with Mr Vimesh P, Senior Vice President of Marketing at Casagrand honored Puducherry Rhinos winners of the series, with the prestigious trophy along with a cash prize of Rs 25000

 Chennai, 5 April, 2023 : In a bid to encourage talented hearing-impaired athletes of the country, Casagrand, one of the leading real estate developers of South India organized the South Zone T-20 Cricket Championship for the Deaf. In collaboration with the Deaf EnAbled Foundation, the grand tournament was held at the YMCA Cricket S tadium in Chennai on 18th and 19th of March 2023. Ms Shailaja Sundar, elder sister of renowned Indian Cric ke ter Washington Sundar and Mr Vimesh P, Senior Vice President of Marketing at Casagrand, graced the occasi on as the guests of honor, along with Mr T.K.M.Sandeep, Founder of Deaf EnAbled Foundation. The champion sh ip league witnessed Puducherry Rhinos lifting the prestigious trophy.

Evoking the notion of inclusivity in the world of athletics, the cricket championship for the deaf featured four sk illed teams – Tamil Nadu Bulls, Andhra Lions, Telangana Tigers and Puducherry Rhinos contending against each other, on Saturday over six matches to bag the coveted title. Along with laying out a competitive environment, t his captivating cricket tournament provided an ideal platform for all the young and deaf cricketers to overcome ob stacles and showcase their talent to the world. The audience witnessed the eliminator round on Sunday befo re progressing towards the finals, and beheld Puducherry Rhinos as the winners of the championship.

Commenting on the occasion, Mr Vimesh P, Senior Vice President of Ma rketing at Casagrand, said, “We are de lighted to have been associated w ith the Deaf EnAbled Foundation to organize such an unique event in th e city. The final match of the South T20 Championship League was played between team Puducherry Rhinos and Telangana Tigers, where the Puducherry Rhinos won the match by 8 wickets.

  • Cricketer Mr K Logesh from Puducherry Rhinos was awarded as the Man of the Series.
  • Mr M Mahadevan of Puducherry Rhinos was recognized as the best batsman of the series and Mr M Arun Kumar of  Puducherry Rhinos  was bestowed with the honour of the Best Bowler of the Series.
