AWARENESS SEMINAR ON POCSO ACT HELD AT VELAMMAL
Velammal Main School, Mogappair Campus organized an awareness seminar on POCSO act and corporal punishment held in the school campus on 28th December, 2021.
The purpose of the seminar was to create awareness among the teachers regarding the laws for child protection like POCSO. The seminar commenced with a prayer song and the honourable Chief Guests Mrs. Shyamala Devi, Deputy Commissioner of Police for crime against women and children and Mrs. Gajalakshmi, Inspector of Police presided over the seminar.
Mrs. Gajalakshmi briefed the various laws that are framed for the safety and protection of women and children and sharing different contact numbers for emergency situations such as 1417, 1098 and 1091 to contact in case of need in school premises for children and women .
All the teachers were made to install Kavalan SOS app in their phones following a demo call was made from the app in the presence of teachers.
She shared more facts related to POCSO act and corporal punishment educating the teachers about crime s and its impact on children and were reminded of their role in reporting the crime in order to bring progressive changes in the society.
