AIR FORCE DAY CELEBRATIONS AT AIR FORCE STATION TAMBARAM

The Indian Air Force celebrated its 90th anniversary on 08 Oct 22. To commemorate the day, an Aerial Display w as organized at Air Force Station Tambaram with Chief Guest Air Commodore Vipul Singh, Air Officer Comma nding, Air Force Station, Tambaram. The event showcased vital capabilities of IAF like Flying in Close Formation and maintenance of Time over Targets.

Three different types of aircraft in “VIC formation” enthralled the audience by carrying out multiple passes wh ile being in Close Formation. The ‘Pilatus’, the ‘Kiran’ and the ‘Chetak Helicopter’ Formations were led by Group Captain PP Misra, Group Captain N Nagarkoti and Group Captain S Sai Kiran respectively.

 

The most thrilling event of the day was the Low Level Aerobatic Display by the Sukhoi 30 Air Dominance Fighter of the IAF. The mighty Su-30 roared over the display area and kept the audience at the edge of their seats with it s awe-inspiring manoeuvrability. The multirole fighter jet which was the showstopper of the event was piloted b y Wing Commander Aditya Suhag and Flight Lieutenant Ankur Mehta.

 

The events in air were interspersed by va rious displays on ground by the trainees of the Mechanical Training Institute. The air warrior drill team impress ed the crowd with their skillful and precise performance. The other performances on ground included Martial Ar t Display, Physical Training Display and the most interesting of all, was the display on cycle by the young trainees. A static display of ten different types of aircraft was also showcased.

 

The event received a grand response and the audience was highly thrilled to see the performances in the backd rop of the beautiful Vandalur Hills in Tambaram. Students along with faculty members from eminent educational institutes enjoyed the Fly past and Static Display. 

 

The displays provided an opportunity for the viewers and especially the young minds to get a close glimpse into the aerial operations that the IAF undertakes.

Reminiscing IAF’s proud and rich history at one of the oldest stations of the Indian Air Force reminded the audi ence of the various operations the IAF has been part of along with its sister services over the years. The pivotal role played by our soldiers was highlighted during the show.
