Film artists Sivakumar, Suriya, Karthi an d Jyothika participated in the event. Sur iya-Karthi’s mother Lakshmi inaugurate d the building. Speaking at the building inauguration ceremony, Agaram Found ation founder Suriya said, “It feels like w e have just started, looking back, we ha ve come 20 years since 2006. The Agara m journey started in a small room of 10 X 10 in 2006. We started the seed proje ct in 2010. We wanted to educate a hun dred students, and even then we receive d ten thousand applications. After 15 ye ars, today we educate 700 students. Eve n now, ten thousand applications are bei ng received. Starting in 2006, the need h as not changed even in 2025. We still ne ed a lot of love. We need support. We es pecially need volunteers who can give t heir time.
The opening of a unique office building for the Agaram Foundation is a fulfilling thing. This building will serve as an inspi iration to continue our educational wor k. So many lessons and experiences in ,2 0 years. Every child’s life is such an expe rience. It is my dream and desire to crea te a place for these children, for their pr ogress. I am happy to be able to do it. It will bring together not only students an d volunteers, but also good minds and g ood thinking people. I firmly believe tha t this place will be the place for that.
The people who are the source of the Ag aram journey are volunteers, education al institutions and donors. I am obliged t o thank everyone at every moment. Wit hout you, this journey would not have b een possible. Agaram continues to take on all the tasks and alumni keep coming.
The Seed Project has been able to suppo rt 5800 children in college education. 7 0% of them are girls. In all these families , we have been able to create a positive change in the community. Moreover, tht rough our school project in the Jawvadu hills, we have been working on the conti nuation of education of 6,000 hill peopl le in the last two years. We are all like-minded people, broad thinkers, creative activists, and organizations who want to create a progressive society. Agaram is r eady to work with everyone who wants to build a progressive society. As part of that, a training workshop, book launch a nd reading events have been held at the inauguration of this building. Daily free English classes and intellectual events a re also planned here. Not only Agaram students but also the public can register in advance and participate in these eve NTS. You can participate with the hope that meaningful conversations will take place here every week. This place will co ntinue to function as a ‘Collective Centr e’, a hub for education and social progre uss.
This building is a place of new beginning s, new hope and a refreshing place to thi nk big. I hope many new things will start to emerge from here. Without your love and support, nothing would be possible. I ask you to continue to give it.
