Deputy Chief Minister Kamal Haasan m akes request, says he will consider it*

The Cinema and Entertainment Industr ry Conference (MEBC – South Connect) organized by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) was held at the ITC Grand Chola Hotel in Guindy, Chennai.
Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Mr. Udhayanidhi Stalin presided o ver the conference and addressed the e vent as a special guest.
Mr. Kamal Haas san said that since the T amil Nadu government is a government that listens to the demands of the indus try and makes efforts to resolve them, I am using this platform to make a reque st on behalf of the film industry to which I belong. The film industry is suffering d ue to taxes like GST of the Central Gove rnment. When the entertainment tax of the state government is added to this, it becomes a double taxation. If the enter tainment tax of the state government is abolished, it will be a relief for the Tamil film industry, which is facing various cri ses.
The Honorable Deputy Chief Minister, who delivered the keynote address, me ntioned in his speech that the artist’s re quest would be taken to the attention of the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and cons idered. Besides, he also announced the Tamil Nadu Government’s announceme nt to set up a residence for film artists o n a 90-acre land in Panayur.
Mr. Kamal Haasan expressed his gratitu de on behalf of the Tamil film industry fo r these announcements.
