ICMR Recognizes Madras Diabetes Res earch Foundation (MDRF)

ICMR Recognizes Madras Diabetes Res search Foundation (MDRF) as a Collabo orating Centre of Excellence.

Chennai, India, November 26th, 2024: The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), the country’s apex body for med ical research, has honored the Madras D iabetes Research Foundation (M DRF) w ith the prestigious designation of Collab aborating Centre of Excellence (CCOE).

This recognition highlights MDRF’s out s tanding contributions to biomedical res earch, particularly in the field of diabete s care and management. MDRF, the rese search arm of Dr. Mohan’s Diabetes Spe cialities Centre in Chennai, was a select ed as one of only 20 centers nation wide for this honor.

This recognition follows MDRF’s previ ous global acknowledgment by the Wo rld Health Organization (WHO) for its pioneering work in diabetes research.

Founded in 1996, MDRF has grown to b ecome one of Asia’s largest and most re spected diabetes research institutions. The foundation has published over 177 0 research papers and boasts a tea m of more than 20 scientists specializzing in diverse fields such as diabetes epidemio logy, precision medicine, gen omics, and nutrition. MDRF has also se rved as the national coordinating cent er for the IC MR-led INDIAB study, one of India’s lar gest and most comprehen sive diabetes and non-communicable disease (NCD)  e pidemiology studies.
