MEI ALZHAGAN TAMIL MOVIE REVIEW
Due to property problems, Arulmozhi Varman (Arvind Samy) vacates the house he loved dearly in his youth and comes to Chennai with his family. He has to come to town after 22 years for his sister’s wedding. At the place where he came, calling “Athan Athan” and clinging to Arul, Karti falls and observes Arulmozhi. Although no one knows Karthi, Arul pretends to know Karthi to get hurt. Arvind Sami misses the bus to Chennai due to Karthi and has to stay with him.
Arvind Sami spends a night drinking and chatting with Karthi and learns a lot about him, except his name. Arul leaves Karthi’s house without telling Karthi, heartbroken that he doesn’t know someone who loves him like this, claiming to know him well. Did he finally find out what Karthi’s name was? What is the relation between Karthi and Arul? Until the last 5 minutes, the movie travels with only these two questions.
The director has succeeded in telling many things that happen in normal life like the love of the village, the anger that comes due to property problems, the joy that comes when looking back at the loved ones who have left behind, and succeeded. From the beginning of the film to the climax, the fans are hit with love wherever they turn!
Be it the main characters or the minor characters that come and go for 2 minutes, all the characters have been given importance so that they stick in everyone’s mind. The comedic dialogues in the film are like random quips that occur in the conversation between four people, making the audience feel closer to the characters.
Rajkiran, who plays Arvind Sami’s uncle, shows an ageless maturity in his acting and delivery. Sridivya, Devadarshini, Jayaprakash etc. have done the work given to them properly.
The events that take place in one night constitute the bulk of the film’s scenes. Actor Karthi talks about Tuticorin firing incident, jallikattu ban, history of Tamil kings. Although these are worth knowing, it makes me think that these scenes could be shortened a bit more.
