International Conference and Exhib ition on Food Processing & Technolo gies, “CII Foodpro 2024” to be held in Chennai

Over 250 + domestic & international exhibitors, 25000 Business and Trade Visitors to Participate at the 15th Edi ton of Foodpro 2024

Chennai, 30th July 2024: Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) is organizing t he 15th edition of Foodpro – India’s bi ennial event on Food Processing, Pack aging & Food Technology from 9th –11 th August 2024 at Chennai Trade Centr e, Nandambakkam, Chennai under the theme “Accelerating Growth Scale for food Industries”. The event will showc ase the broad spectrum of opportuniti es, technologies and solutions availab le for food processing and allied indus tries. The Government of Tamil Nadu is the Host State for Foodpro 2024.

Foodpro 2024, is an event on food proc essing, Packaging, Technology, Food In gredients, Traditional Foods, cold stor age, refrigeration and transportation. The three-day exhibition will have ove r 250 domestic and international exhib itors, sectoral conferences, B2B meetin gs, product launches and presentation as and around 25,000 visitors and trad ers attending the expo. A Conference o n Food Processing Technologies and Co nference on Food Safety, Quality & Reg ulatory Compliance is also planned.

The other highlights of Foodpro are th e seven panel discussions, theme addr ess, technical sessions with over 30 spe akers from both the government and industry experts sharing their expert ise.

Mr B Thiagarajan, Foodpro Expo, Chai rman – CII Foodpro Expo 2024 & Mana ging Director, Blue Star Limited said, “The Food Processing sector in India is growing at an average annual growth rate of 5.35 percent between 2015-16 to 2022-23. In 2022-23, the sector account ed for 7.66 percent of the GVA in manu facturing at 2011-12 prices,”.

“In terms of employment, the sector e mploys almost 2 million workers in ne arly 41,500 registered units. With a ma rket size of US$ 866 billion in 2022, the food industry will play a vital role in t he economy’s growth. The domestic fo od market is projected to grow by over 47% between 2022 and 2027, reaching US$ 1,274 billion,” added Mr Thiagaraj an.

“CII Foodpro is an ideal platform for all stakeholders in this sector to showc ase their products & technologies, the l atest trends and to deliberate on the c hallenges and opportunities for the de velopment of the sector,” said Mr Sriv ats Ram, Chairman, CII Tamil Nadu & Managing Director, Wheels India Ltd.

“Currently, India is the largest produ cer of milk, pulses, banana, mango, p omegranate, papaya, lemon, okra, gin ger and non-food crops like cotton and jute, the second-largest producer of ri ce, wheat, fruits and vegetables, tea an d one of the leading producers of eggs and meat in the world. India produced 304.4 million tonnes of cereals, 296 mi llion tonnes of pulses, 351.9 million ton nes of horticulture, 230.6 million tonn es of milk, and 138.4 billion eggs durin g 2023-24,” added Mr Srivats Ram.
