VITHAI KARAN -TAMIL MOVIE REVIEW
A film can be made as a comedy, but the making of a film should not be made into a comedy, right? This ‘dark comedy’ movie shows this. Vengi, the debutant director of this film, had studied cinema with Lokesh Kanagaraj, so there was a lot of expectation. When Sathish is shown a double role (as a teenager), one starts life with the principle that “cheating is wrong” and the other “cheating is not wrong… cheating is wrong…”. Well… if we look at the concept of the screenplay, we will see a man who says that cheating is wrong – but Sathish, who says cheating is not wrong, grows up and robs gold and diamonds.
For that he targets three dadas. Anandraj, Subramania Siva and Madhusudhan are the three grandfathers. All three learned the trade of smuggling from a prankster in their childhood and then pushed the joke away and started their own pranks. When they grow up, Satish goes to them and talks to them and lays down some principles.. They expect Satish to solve all the problems that are so small that they don’t know how they survived till then.
The slaves they have are worse than them. But since this is a comedy film, everything has to be taken as a comedy. Why should we care when the director himself does not care about the existence of a story..? The whole film is only made to laugh here and there by tying the above things into bits and pieces. Anandraj scores more than hero Satish. He has a Nepali breed called his younger brother as a groomsman, and when he is worried about keeping him, he says, “Our father went to Nepal for two days… I have to protect you all because of that blackness..!” Anandraj wails the ultimate.
Similarly, when Subramania Siva and Co. went to the security forces for the second time, Subramania Siva said to them, “Don’t think that I am asking you… We are getting bored, don’t you have something else to do..?” That’s the kind of feeling that it’s falling apart. But if Madhusudhan leaves Samsai on the side, there is no one for comedy. Anandraj and Madhusuthan’s comedies in the airport toilet are the highlight of the film. Well… what is Hero Satish doing..? Sathish collects the stolen items by pretending to cheat them. I don’t know what he does with all that. He tells a flashback to that. But, that also turns out to be a lie at some point. Satish may start acting in something different than comedy in the style of stage drama. It is a good comedy where he lifts his arms and legs in the name of dance to a song. Heroine Simran Gupta comes and goes like an AI doll. We are shocked to understand that he is a journalist. Similarly, in the beginning of the film, Satish is said to be a magician. But he doesn’t do any magic in the whole film. John Vijay comes as a rowdy cop as per his nature and he is also a scene. Venkat Parath’s music and cinematography are approx.
Well… if we search for Satish in the beginning of the film, ‘Retire came, is there anything about that in the story..?’… But when the film ends, the director pretends that one Satish is calling another Satish and settles the account.Some films have logic ……………. some films have magic – but this magician has no logic or magic.
