Vijay Sethupathi-Aravind Swami starrer “Gandhi Talks” becomes the first Silent film to be screened at Internati onal film festival of India ‘ Goa 2023
ZEE STUDIOS in association with KYOORIUS and Movie Mill Entertainment is producing ‘Gandhi Talks’, a silent film based on Black Comedy, featuring Vijay Sethupathi, Aditi Rao Hydari, Aravind Swami and Siddharth Jadhav in the lead characters. The film is directed by Kishor P Belekar and features musical score by Academy Award-winning music director AR Rahman. The film has now become the first-ever silent film to be screened at Internat ional film festival of India ‘ Goa 2023.
The silent movie, which is a black comedy by its genre, deals with the financial needs of a character, and how it leaves a deep impact the lives of others. The story revolves around an unemployed graduate struggling to land a job through any means possible, and his life takes a turn when crossing paths with a businessman and a petty th ief. Gandhi Talks aims at telling a story by switching off the device of dialogue, which is not only scary but also interesting and challenging.
The film is directed by Kishor, a theatre enthusiast, who has showcased his unparalleled adeptness as a playwr ight, director and actor over a span of 13+ years and won 25 awards in a single year for his outstanding one-act play titled “Mission Vasco Da Gama’. Furthermore, he is mainly known for directing the acclaimed Marathi films ‘Yeda’ starring Ashutosh Rana, ‘Sa Sasucha’, and the female empowerment anthology ‘R-E-S-P-E-C-T’.
Director Kishor says, “A silent film is not a gimmick. It is a form of storytelling. Conveying emotions by switching off the device of dialogue is not only scary, but also interesting and challenging. And, these challenges have made writing, filming, and editing Gandhi Talks, a passion project of mine for about 20 years a fulfilling and a rewarding experience.”
