Movie Review-;
Vijay Sethupathi starrer Yathum Ure Yavarum Kelir talks about how the border lines and documents of the coun tries of the world tend to disperse the refugees. An orphaned boy named Punithan (Vijaysethupathi) comes acro ss a priest (Rajesh). The loud noise of people who are stuck in his mind disturbs him. Knowing this, the priest pro vides opportunities for the saint to learn music. A saint who becomes a master of music is stateless and identity less. These reasons came to stand in the way of his fame, did Punithan overcome them as a musician? Isn’t it? Th at is the story of the film.
Vijay Sethupathi walked out of the film due to opposition to his portrayal of Sri Lankan cricketer Muttiah Mura litharan. But before that, he had acted as an Eelamist in the film ‘Yadum Ure Yavarum Kalir’. Although the work o f this film was completed before the Corona lockdown, the film has just released.Directed by debutant director Venkata Krishna Rokanth, the film stars Vijay Sethupathi, Megha Akash, Vivek, Mohan Raja, Majidhirumeni, Ka nika, Rajesh, Rithvika in lead roles.The director has written the screenplay based on the situation of the Sri Lan kan refugees in Tamil Nadu after the Eelam War.
The first half goes without any twists or emotional scenes. The second half makes up for those shortcomings. In the final scene, Vijay Sethipathi’s pleas to the world about refugees are overshadowed.We can expect modest pe rformance from Vijay Sethupathi in this film. Although the heroine Megha Akash, Vivek, Mizhil Thirumeni, Kan ika and many others acted well, their characters were not written strongly.As it is a musical film, Niwas K Prasa nna seems to have worked hard. From the beginning to the end of the film, his music carries the film. Vetrivel Ma hendran’s cinematography is also noteworthy.
Especially the war scenes in Sri Lanka have been shown realistically. How are people divided by land, country, po litics, etc.? How are refugees created? The film tries to tell what their pains and expectations are, and the film su cceeds only half of it. The 2nd half of the film could have tried to convey it more forcefully through the visuals wh en it is about life. How important is the verse when telling a story like this. They have handled it well. Espec ia lly the climactic scene of the film is excellently spoken. The dialogue spoken by Vijay Sethupathi is well done..! It is certain that the eyes of the viewers will be disturbed by the pains of people who have forgotten their country, ab andoned their families and become refugees.
In other words, even though they are refugees, it gives the impression that they are the kings of this country.The film is one that doesn’t require a lot of songs. Niwas K Prasanna’s background music is enjoyable at some points. On the whole, ‘Yadum Ure Yavarum Kelir’ is one of the welcome films that told the pains of the lives of people li ving as refugees..! Many of the Tamil politicians who talk about the problems of Sri Lankan Tamils will be very pa ssionate. But they don’t talk about the Sri Lankan refugees in the camps in our town. This is because refugees do not have the right to vote. The film Yathum Ure Yavarum Kelir is a problem faced by a Sri Lankan refugee.
The film is directed by Venkata Krishna Rohind. In Sri Lanka’s harsh war environment, a priest tries to enroll a de stitute boy in a music school in London. On the way he is caught by the soldiers and imprisoned. He is freed and goes to Kerala in a fake canoe. He works in a musical instrument shop there. He participates online in the Londo n music festival. He is rejected because he does not have citizenship of any country. The story of this film is the st ruggle to get this right. After the film starts and after a few scenes, the story begins to travel within us. The direc tor has correctly recorded the treatment of Sri Lankan refugees by our government, especially the police depart ment.
The death cry of Mulli Vaikal continues to be heard even after exiting the film. Vetrivel’s lighting is by Niwas K. Prasanna’s music conveys the pain and emotion perfectly. Vijay Sethupathi has acted well as a Sri Lankan refug ee speaking in Sri Lankan Tamil. When watching the performance of the late Vivek, I feel like saying ‘We miss y ou Vivek sir’. Megha Akash, Kanika, Mizhil Thirumeni are all perfect choices of characters. The border lines of the country are only for administrative convenience. The film tells about love and humanity with Kanyan Bhu gunnaran’s line as the title.
