On Sony Entertainment Television’s “MasterChef India,” Chennai, Tamil Nadu’s Aruna Vijay’s commendable talent and presence of mind surprise the Chefs
CHENNAI: Sony Entertainment Television’s culinary reality format show ‘MasterChef India’ has selected its Top 15 contestants who will go ahead in their journey to be declared a Chef from a home cook. This week, Aruna Vij ay from Chennai, Tamil Nadu will be pulling out all the stops to impress the judges, the Chefs, Ranveer Brar, Gari ma Arora and Vikas Khanna. Showing off not only her culinary dexterity but also her brilliant presence of mind when completing tasks, the “Chennai Express” Aruna would be impressing the Chefs with her amazing show of skill and ambition in the MasterChef Kitchen.
Aruna Vijay would be seen beautifully handling the first challenge of the week on Monday and Tuesday, the ‘Imm unity Pin Challenge”. An immunity pin could be won by the contestants who show brilliance in the kitchen and pr epare the perfect dish. The task at hand would be to infuse Indian and global cuisines with Aruna’s challenge bei ng of infusing Tamil Nadu and Great Britain’s food. Having come to the show, intending to represent Tamil Nadu ‘s rich culinary culture, this challenge would define Aruna’s desire of putting her home state on the global map of cuisines. Next up, Aruna Vijay would be battling other home cooks to win the immunity pin on Tuesday in the “Fo od Pyramid Challenge”. Here, the home cooks would have to switch stations to continue the preparation of their co-home cook. This would be followed by the ultimate challenge on Wednesday and Thursday, the “Team Servic e Challenge” where they would have to prepare food and service it to actual customers! Aruna Vijay would be le ading the “Red Team” where they have to prepare Italian dishes. She would be dividing the work among her mem bers which would be serving a four-course meal to the customers and the Chefs.
Talking about the week Aruna shares her excitement for the viewers to see her shine, “I enjoyed all the challenges that were given this week. They were unique, played on my strengths as well as gave me an insight into my weaknesses and where I need to improve. There was an adrenaline rush throughout the week that I enjoyed because that gave into my performance. I tried my level best to be the best home cook on the kitchen floor and impress the Chefs. Early on, I learned how to use my skills to my strength and that is my gameplay. I hope the viewers enjoy the different challenges this week because they are so creative and unique. It is only going to get tougher from here on!”
It is now left to be seen whether Aruna’s cookery would be all show and no dough or whether she would bring her A-game to the MasterChef Kitchen. What will happen? Will Aruna be able to truly represent Tamil Nadu on the show or is the exit close?
The top 15 home cooks who were chosen are Priyanka Kundu Biswas from Kolkata, Aruna Vijay from Chennai, Priya Vijan from Bangalore, Dyuti Banerjee from Kolkata, Avinash Patnaik from Bhubaneswar, Santa Sarmah from Jagiroad Vill Amlighat, Nazia Sultana from Guwahati, Gurkirat Singh from Sirsa, Yashu Verma from Gazipur City, Kamaldeep Kaur from Ludhiana, Sachin Khatwani from Lucknow, Suvarna Vijay Bagul from Mumbai, Deepa Chauhan from Bangalore, Nayanjyoti Saika from Tinsukia, and Vineet Yadav from Lucknow. Nazia Sultana would not be seen in this week’s episodes since she had to go back home to care for her daughter.
