VICTORIOUS NCC AIR WING CONTINGENT FROM  ALL INDIA VAYU SAINIK CAMP ARRIVES HOME

The Victorious Contingent from the All India Vayu Sainik Camp—Airforce Military Camp, the Air Wing NCC Co ntingent of NCC Directorate (Tamilnadu, Puducherry  & Andaman Nicobar) returned to Chennai today. The Dir ectorate’s team won three gold and three silver medals and stood first in the Aero-modelling competition. It also came as runners up in the overall trophy. Minister for Youth Welfare and Sports Development of Tamilnadu Stat e, Thiru Siva. V. Meyyanathan personally honoured the medal winners and encouraged the team to perform bett er. Deputy Director General of the Directorate, Commodore Atul Kumar Rastogi congratulated the team for the ir outstanding performance. 

The competition was held at Jodhpur, Rajasthan, from 24 Sep 22 to 05 Oct 22.  This annual event is conducted un der the aegis of Directorate General NCC, New Delhi, to assess training standards achieved by Air Wing NCC uni ts, across the country. The team was drawn from five Air Wing NCC Squadrons of Chennai, Coimbatore,  Salem, Trichy and Puducherry. Commencing 29 Jul 2022, the contingent comprising 24 Senior Division boys and 14 Se nior Wing girls, were put through a strenuous training regimen, towards competing against a total of 16 NCC Dir ectorates from all over India.  

Competition held for Drill, Aero-modelling (both Static and Flying), Firing (both fixed and flying targets) and Line Area competition. Cadets of the contingent bagged Gold medals for Best in Flying (Girls category), Best in Healt h & Hygiene (Boys category) and in Radio Control Aero-modelling Flying.  They also won Silver medals in Best in Flying  (Girls  category), Line Area and Control Line Aero-modelling  Flying.  In addition, the contingent was also adjudged as the Overall Best Directorate (Runners Up).
