Be it the Speaker or the Pri me Minister, Home or Finance Minister or even the Opposition, the students did a stupendous job. The Hall rev erberated to the heated discussion on burning issues like Inflation and how sports is improving the economy of the nation. The house demanded relief on price hike of LPG. The finance minister not only announced an excise duty cut in petrol and diesel prices; she also notified an LPG subsidy to crores of households that are registered under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana that is aimed to provide LPG subsidy to poor households. The Youth Parliament also witnessed a constructive debate over the falling price of the Indian currency in terms of USD ($).
Beautifully crafted by the Social Science Department, the event taught the future leaders the healthy habits of discipline and tolerance towards different viewpoints. It also enabled the student community to know about pr actices and procedures of the Parliament. The event was a true example of Experiential Learning.
The Youth Parliament showcased both ruling and opposition viewpoints. They expressed their critical capacity of questioning and reflecting the Parliament of India. After the session the students left the mock parliament house acquiring an in depth understanding of politics and the functioning of the parliamentary houses.
Acknowledging the competitive spirit and enthusiasm of the participants Mr. Abishek Kumar Yadav, Academic Director and Chairman, Griffins International School commented, “The aim and objective of the school parliam ent is to create awareness among the students about the parliamentary system and to make them able to eval uate the present situation and to behave with responsibility. We believe that through the process the young mi nds would be trained to sensibly respond to social and political change and meaningfully engage themselves in community services.
