Story-;
An Indian journalist called Murugan (Ramana) writes for a Malaysian publication that is interested in events, art efacts, episodes or anything pertaining to the supernatural. Sensing the possibility of a potential story, Murugan meets Shankar, a man who has had a scary occult experience. Shankar discloses that one night, he and his frien ds, Anbu (Logan Nathan), a physically challenged person, and Guru (Ganeshan Manoharan) decided to play a ga me called ‘Spirit of the Coin’. Not knowing much about the game, the three friends chose to play the game with an ancient coin picked from Anbu’s collection of coins.They try calling out to spirits and one answers. Initially, th e conversation, which they have by way of a board containing letters written on it, is amiable and friendly. Eve ntually, the conversation starts getting serious with each of them looking to use the spirit to get ahead in life.
While Shankar asks the spirit to disclose the numbers of the winning lottery ticket for him to emerge a millio na ire, Anbu wonders if the spirit can give him back his legs.While the men are under the impression that they are the ones who are looking to use the spirit to gain what they want in life, little do they know that it is actually the spirit that is getting them to do what it wants… Thrill-seeking horror story magazine journalist Murugan (RJ Ra mana) travels to Malaysia to collect local true ghost stories and look for folks with paranormal stories. What sta rted as an ordinary story search turns into a horrific life-changing mystery when he encounters Shankar (Tinesh Sarathi Krishnan), who shares a spine-chilling paranormal experience that happened to him and his friends. Did they all survive? “Poochandi” is a term in Hinduism used by South Indians to frighten children, which refers to th e bogeyman.

In Malaysia this film realeased in the title of “Poochandi”. In India’s it will release in the name of “Poochandi Var an”. Director J.R. Vicky’s ‘Poo Sandi Varan’ is a brilliantly made Tamil horror film that leaves you both shaken and impressed by the time it ends. The film is special for more reasons than one. Firstly, this is a Malaysian Tamil film which is to say that it has been made by Tamils residing in Malaysia. The film has been shot entirely in Malaysia and features several Malaysian artistes. Murugan is a journalist, travels from Madurai to Malaysia in search of regular people with terrifying experiences to include in a genuine paranormal story collection he is writing for a magazine. He lands on a story by Shankar and encounters a paranormal experience that changes his life. The na rration is taut and the plot is gripping. There are no song and dance sequences like you would normally expect in a Tamil film. The film depends only on the skill of its actors and the strength of its plot.
Although the film is basically Malaysian, the crew seems to have made certain changes to its format to enable th e audiences here to enjoy the film. For instance, Malaysian Tamil films generally don’t have an intermission. How ever, ‘Poo Sandi Varan’ has an intermission.My mindset before watching I had feel that watching Malaysian Mov ie. But within 10 minutes I felt that it’s not only for particular country it’s absolutely Indian Movie too. Little did I know that I was in for a ride of thrill! As a fan of horror and thriller flicks, I must say Poochandi Varan was a solid, perfectly made film! First of all, I would like to congratulate the entire cast and crew of this film. From story, scr eenplay, cinematography, lighting and BGMs everything was top notch! I’m not even kidding right now. The movie was supposed to release way earlier in 2020 but due to the lockdown situations in Malaysia it got pushed several times and just released on 27th Janu ary. But I guess this movie was worth the wait! You will get a really good satisfaction feel after watching this film. Of course I am not going to spill the beans or even drop the entire story or even the flow of it. Good movies are so rare to come by and Poo C Varan is that one of a kind film that I highly suggest you to watch. They try calling out to spirits and one answers.

In this film, it is vereh level! Trust me when I say the director has explored a whole new experience for a Tamil ho rror film/ The usage of Religious & Hinduism, history of it and also the rich culture of the Tamil language is also diversified in this movie.
A movie should make us believe. We should feel connected instantly to the film and thus start engaging with it. That is exactly what I felt! Poochandi Varan is a compelling and enticing narrative about the dread of the unkn own and Hinduism’s rich heritage. Supernatural tales and myths about other interesting beings that have existed since ancient times. It may appear anywhere and take on the appearance of anybody, and it will not leave its victi ms alone until they are dead or choose to pass the curse on to someone else. Kadaram, today known as Kedah is vasely explored and thoroughly researched by the team. They have done extensive searches to ensure the movie does not lack any logic or facts which are real. Ancient Kadaram was also said to have been conquered by Raja Ra ja Chozhan too. Watch out for all these amazing facts and references in the film. Congratulations to the cast! Without them the execution of the film would have been impossible.
Every single one of them acted really well. They stir curiosity, make you angry, make you laugh, make you get in fear and tons more. The emotions and chills sent down your spine is really different guys. What happens then is what ‘Poo Sandi Varan’ is all about. The film is gripping from the word ‘go’. There are no unnecessary distractions like comedy or songs. The pace at which the plot moves keeps you on the edge of your seat and makes you chew your nails in anticipation. Apart from the amazing cast, I would like to mention the Ravi Shankar Sir, the Founder of Astana Arts, who delivered an extraordinary and flawless performance as the main character Poochandi. Ev ery stride he took in each of his scenes give us extremely feel,Mirchi RJ Ramana, Dinesh Sarathi Krishnan, Logan Nathan, Ganesan Manoharan, and Hamsni Perumal are a huge backbone to the film. In addition to being aesthe tically appealing, the film’s casts were carefully picked by the production to provide the best performance and do honour to the characters.
The background score for the film is just apt. No unnecessary noises, no high pitched screeching voices or sud den sounds to induce fear. The story genuinely triggers fear and the background score only looks to deliver what is necessary. Dustin Riduan Shah deserves a round of applause for this music. Asalisham Bin Mohammad Ali’s ca merawork too is neat and professional. The lighting is just about right. Poochandi Varan is a really visual treat. The cinematography was top notch. There was not a moment where you could take your eyes off the scree n!Un like other ghost or paranormal films, Poochandi Varan manages to keep viewers glued to the screen. A fascinat ing story, given by both new and veteran performers, is best portrayed throughout the film. Wickneswaren Kali aperumal appears to be a filmmaker full of intriguing stories, which is what I got from watching this film. Noth ing about ‘Poo Sandi Varan’ is artificial or exaggerated. It looks like a story that could have happened in your place and that is what sends a shiver down your spine. Without doubt, J.R. Vicky’s ‘Poo Sandi Varan’ is a must watch!
