INDIAN COAST GUARD APPREHEND A SRI LANKAN FISHING BOAT OFF POINT CALIMERE IN TAMILNADU
Indian Coast Guard Ship ICGS Rani Abakka apprehended one Sri Lankan fishing boat, with one crew on 29 Mar 20 22. While Patrolling off Point Calimere, the ship observed suspicious movement near IMBL and observed that the Sri Lankan fishing boat was fishing in the Indian side of IMBL. The illegal fishing in Indian EEZ by the Sri La n kan fishing boat is in violation of MZI Act, 1981. The boat alo ng with crew has been handed over to Coastal Sec urity Group of Tamilnadu government for further Investigati on. Indian Coast Guard along with stakeholders are mai ntaining high alert along the maritime boundary with Sri Lanka.
