DIAMOND JUBILEE CELEBRATION OF OCF AVADI Chennai 21 December 2021
Ordnance Clothing Factory Avadi, a unit of Troop Comforts Limited, a Government of India enterprise, Ministry of Defence celebrated its Diamond Jubilee year on 21/12/2021. The CMD (Chairman & Managing Director) of Troop Comforts Limited Shri Santosh Kr Sinha, IOFS was the Chief Guest of the function. The General manager of the factory Shri Surjit Das, IOFS along with other senior officers, recognized unions and associations, workmen, staff and employees were present on the occasion. The event also included the inauguration of Diamond Jubilee Pillar. Further, a crèche at WWA (Women Welfare Association), R&D exhibition-cum-conference hall and VKK Menon Kalyana Mandapam and Convention Centre were also inaugurated on the occasion.
The factory, located in AVADI, Chennai, was commissioned on Nov 1, 1961 by the then Defence Minister, Shri VKK Menon. Since then, the factory has devoted 60 years of service to the nation in Troop comfort items ranging from Combat uniforms, overalls, drill uniforms, tents, parachutes, coveralls, winter clothing and other personnel protective gears.
Recently, the factory has successfully ventured into the field of Body armours and has successfully designed, developed and mass produced Bullet Resistant Jackets/Vests conforming to international NIJ standard (threat level III+/IIIA).
Last week the factory celebrated Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, commemorating 75 years of India’s independence, by organizing a Public Exhibition. During the exhibition, the factory launched its new product BULLET RESISTANT HELMET, which conforms to international NIJ standard (threat level IIIA).
