Movie Review – ;

Mano makes his debut as a director, and it is interesting to see the youngsters making their debut with the Whodunit kind of genre. After the hit film Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru by Karthick Naren, this is one of the exciting subjects we have seen, shot by a youngster. The characters are designed neatly, and the stars fit well. The writing is neat and the execution, too, as it makes the audience jump between the characters regarding the murder. The cinematographer and the music director have fully supported the script’s decisive run. While watching the film, people who love this genre might think that they are also detectives and analyze. That’s the biggest success of the screenplay. Mano makes his debut as a director, and it is interesting to see the youngsters making their debut with the Whodunit kind of genre. The cinematographer and the music director have fully supported the script’s decisive run. While watching the film, people who love this genre might think that they are also detectives and analyze. That’s the biggest success of the screenplay.Insomniacs Dreams Creations produce this film that is written and directed by Mano Ve Kannathasan.Murder mysteries are always enticing and Tamil Film Industry has had a plethora of them in recent times with the audience wanting more of it. IP is not just a murder mystery but it also attempts to throw a gauntlet at the existing societal norms. Decently written IP is fairly engaging though the mystery can be easily unravelled with the limited characters in the story and its straightforward storyline. The short length of the film does not help to communicate the message that the film intends to convey forcefully. The characters too are not strongly evolved.Amrutha has delivered a strong performance. Vignesh too is good. Rajesh Balachindran is neat in parts. The rest are OK.Praveen Balu’s cinematography is orderly. Jones Rubert’s music is good.

Ram Pandian has little to edit. Dialogues are good and direction is neat.An independent young woman gets murdered in her apartment. The investigation team observe it as a simple case since the victim barely had any link with people. However, it turns out to be one of the most complex cases that they ever witnessed. Can an ordinary investigation team pull off some magic to find the killer?This idea of hers causes trouble in her personal life as she starts experimenting for a new book on eroticism and sex. Can an ordinary policeman, who doesn’t believe in instincts, crack this complex case? Both Vignesh Shanmugam and Amrutha have delivered neat performances and their performances elevate the script to the next level. Vignesh’s performance during the flashback portions is natural and refreshing. He comes across as a good find and definitely someone to watch out for. There are flaws in the screenplay, just as the characters in the film. However, the filmmaker seems to have done so intentionally.  For instance, the CCTV footage in the apartment itself would have revealed all the characters who witnessed the murder first.

But Kumar never thinks of checking it, when this case means so much to him. Especially, when the book, titled The Last Page, was couriered to him by Iyal, days before her death. Again, we can’t complain, as he himself agrees in the second half that he isn’t as efficient as other cops and the inspector posting came to him because his father died on duty. But there are quite a few questions that are left unanswered.Though the murder mystery is a genre that is done-to-death in Tamil cinema, it never, ever goes out of fashion. Mano knows that well and has tried his best to build up the tension till the tail end of the film. Here, the writing is very powerful, and traps us into the journey of the lead character, Iyal (Amrutha Srinivasan), who is innocent yet mysterious in her own ways.Iyal is introduced to us as an independent young woman, who stays alone in her apartment. She looks terribly upset and records a note about the guy in her life who doesn’t let her live. Within a few minutes, she gets murdered by a stranger whom she lets inside her apartment.  The rest of the plot revolves around who the killer is and what forced this person to take her life.Initially, the case, investigated by Inspector Kumar (Rajesh Balachandran) looks simple as the victim barely had any link with the outside world.

However, as the film progresses, shocking revelations are made by her ex-boyfriend Prashanth (Vignesh Shanmugam). The narrative shifts back in time, where we get to see Iyal and Prashanth’s breezy romance. They meet each other on their college campus and connect through writing. Prashanth gets to read a few pages of one of her unpublished books and falls for her. Iyal is a writer, who firmly believes that only true stories can create an impact rather than imaginary ones.Cinematographer Praveen Balu has supported the director’s vision well and sticks to the basics while Jones Rubert’s music is soothing and does justice to the flow of the movie.Overall, Iruthi Pakkam is a good thriller with an interesting plot that can intrigue the inner detective in you.Interesting script and screenplay A well-executed film with neat characterizationExcellent performances from the stars ,What’s Not There? A very few minor flawsIrudhi Pakkam has many twists and turns, and there is a justification for the title. If you are a fan of whodunit kind of movies, then it is your cup of tea!
