DAKSHIN BHARAT AREA ORGANISES ‘SWARNIM VIJAY RUN’ AS PART OF SWARNIM VIJAY VARSH CELEBRATIONS
Headquarters Dakshin Bharat Area organised ‘Swarnim Vijay Run’ on 21 February, 2021 with the theme “Run For Your Heroes” in Chennai as part of the year-long celebration of 50th anniversary year of victory of Indian Armed Forces in the 1971 Indo-Pak War. The historic victory is being celebrated with much fanfare all over the country as ‘Swarnim Vijay Varsh’ (Golden Jubilee Year of Victory).
The run was conducted under three categories of 2 km, 5 km and 10 km. More than 700 participants from var ious spheres veterans, youth, ladies and children participated the run with great enthusiasm. The event was also graced by various civil dignitaries including Mr Rajeev Ranjan, IAS, Chief Secretary TN and Mr AS Rajan, Special Director, SIB.
Col A Krishnaswamy, Vr C, VSM* (Retd), a war hero of the 1971 Indo-Pak War, who was awarded Vir Chakra for his bravery flagged off the run. Lt Gen A Arun, GOC-Dakshin Bharat Area thanked all the participants, volunte ers and media persons for making the event a huge success.
There was display of Military Band, Arms and equipment and military horses in the venue, which was a great attr action for the participants and visitors. Dakshin Bharat Area is under the Southern Command of Indian Army with headquarters in Chennai.
